Player Recruitment - Possible question for the meeting tonight?

With the appointment of a Head Coach instead of a Manager, it seems that recruitment is going to be done by a committee involving Mansford, Johnson etc and, hopefully, Critchley.

Do you think the club need to appoint a dedicated Director of Football to facilitate this, or will it be left to the current staff? Also, I wonder how much say Critchley will get? Will it be a case of him saying 'we need a striker' and then him being presented with a list of targets for him to have the final say on? Or will he be told 'here are the players the recruitment team have bought, mould them into a team'?

Thoughts?

How much say will Mansford have in recruitment other than signing the players once identified by Johnson & the scouts?
I know there has been rumours of his involvement but I'd be very surprised if he had much say in actually choosing the players to sign.

I'd imagine Critchley will identify a specific kind of player he wants, and from there it will be over to Johnson's team to find the him.

To be honest could you argue that this model isn't working at Fleetwood where they had Grétar Steinsson for a few years (and now Eddy Jennings) Uwe Rosler had to work with Steinsson and now with Joey Barton as Head Coach he works with Jennings - are people saying that Barton doesn't have a hand in players being signed. If you had a business like Pilley, would you allow anyone to come in and just spend your cash, or would you have a consistent Financial Controller type, someone who is there for a good few years, who looked at each application to spend money and weigh up the benefit of what was being spent against potential return on an investment or allow someone you may have to sack in the end to spend your hard earned. The model seems to be working pretty well at the moment for Fleetwood it seems.
