Playoffs

I’ll take 15th now.

Progress on last year 🤗
I hope we're not in meltdown on Saturday after false hope against Forest reserves, followedd by a reality check against a team still with promotion aspirations, also having recently strengthened.
It'll take time for new arrivals to gel; JB has barely played a minute of competitive football since he left and TT is something of an unknown quantity

Same here, we still don't have a play off squad by any means and I'm still not convinced by Appleton.

Let's see how he gets on with no excuses.
We'll have to wait for next season for that. January signings are sticking plaster, nothing more. A proper pre-season with a settled squad is the basis for judging a coach, not the shambles we had to deal with following Critchley's departure.

Love the optimism but unless we start winning a few games we're down.
I think a few have got giddy over the Forest win and need to take a deep breath.
This site will back to it usual self if we get stuffed Sat with MA out and I'll turn it off.

It's not being giddy it's just having some hope finally now we have what we should have had 3 months ago

Y
Not out of the question with 3 or 4 wins are they?

Squad looking decent now, shame we didn't have these options in the summer

Better late than never I guess

That's 4 in now with I believe one more

All aboard the Appybus ....
Yes, no chance !

Try looking at the table Phil - you won’t be straining your neck much this season !

Beesley and Williams out. 2 CB's in and a striker then?
If we could replace Williams with a permanent better option then fine. Let’s not be too hasty with Beesley as he’s only just getting match fit & we really don’t know if he can contribute at this level.

Yeah, only if a striker is coming in.

Deluded, wishful thinking…. Stay off the drugs . Play offs ha ha ha
We will do very well to stay up.

Let’s remember we haven’t won a league game in 9. Tough game away on Saturday & that run could be standing at 10.
Not many games in that 9 league game run have we looked like winning ?

Seeing as you're asking, we should have won at Hull, Wigan and West Brom, maybe got more against Birmingham, Sunderland and Luton.

The only match I felt we were totally outclassed was against Boro.

I surely hope so, but I would be happy with a very respectable mid table/top half finish (which would also satisfy the 25/1 top half finish bet I put on yesterday).....

Hull outclassed us at home… my concern is when you should have won so many games and didn’t then u need to look at the manager at some point

Teams who lose points from winning/drawing positions are usually in trouble. It's not about bad luck or 'swings and roundabouts'. If you're consistently on the wrong side of the finer margins, then you aren't good enough.

if we're honest 4-1 flattered us big time on Saturday, their striker missed a hat full of sitters and Sunderland were left wondering how the hell we got a point in the game before, so lets not get dizzy here, we're in the bottom three because we deserve to be in the bottom three, sure we have made some tasty additions but lets not forget every other club is trying to pull off deals too.

Mid table in May is a result in my books.

For all their striker missing chances, don't forget Yates came off and said he should have had a hattrick, and he was only on the pitch 35 minutes.

No chance whatsoever. We are in a relegation scrap not a promotion battle.

We will get nowhere near mid table. 4th from bottom will be a miracle. I still say we go down under Appleton.

But you also shouldn't underestimate the difference between a cup game against a group of players who have had reduced game time and a league game against regular first teamers. Apples was right in his post match interview when he said the difference between Saturday and recent league games was getting the second goal. Part of that could have been down to their push to equalise as it's basically a 'shit or bust' scenario. A team in the league maybe doesn't play it as attacking at that stage of a league game. As they know that at 1-0 a point is still on offer.

The keys in! The engines revving!!

Let's hope the wheels don't ** fall off!!

🤪🤪🤪

(I hope i have to change my name again!!!)

In App's latest interview he says...

“The one thing we’ve tried to do since coming back from Spain is be harder to beat and I think we’ve done that. We’re a bit more stubborn than we were prior. When you’ve got players like Josh in your team, it (then) gives you an opportunity to win games."

We have conceded 6 in 6 since the break. Before the break we conceded 10 in 6. And 16 in 8.

Are we harder to beat and, if so, why? What have we done? Maxwell has been in nets throughout. He took over at the start of October, after the international break.

Williams has played less. Thompson has played less. But I can't see how midfield has helped, and we still give the opposition plenty of chances.

Thoughts?

I don't blame him for trying to put a positive spin on things but we have given the opposition more chances since the break and could have been hammered by Birmingham, Cardiff & Sunderland. I expect us to keep it tighter when Trybull starts plus other teams have a lot more to worry about going the other way now Poveda is flying, Bowler is back & we have a right back he doesn't get a nosebleed when he crosses the halfway line.

Usually we don't play well next game. But wins against PNE and Cov shows we can do it.

Yes I'm struggling to think what changes have been made in an attempt to make us harder to beat. And we haven't looked hard to beat. I think he's maybe just making stuff up!

Hopefully the new mood and the new players will actually make us harder to beat. Perhaps he just got his tenses mixed up, he's not the most articulate.
