I thought he was just shite at trying to be a wing-back but he is just plain shite atm.
Critchley may have knocked the final bit of stuffing out of him now.
 
CJ is just not the same player when he starts he’s an impact sub at best.

Dembelle is the complete opposite he needs to start games not come on with 10/15 minutes to go as he just doesn’t have an impact as a sub.

As for Virtue coming on well sorry but it just show’s how weak we really are if he gets game time.

Most agree he's a very poor player, who has occasional bursts of impact when played into final 3rd space.
Deffo needs a rest (along one) and then a possible subs place at best.
It is weird how Critch always plays him - I know we joke that he must have something on him - because it's incomprehensible otherwise.

Yet coming on as sub on Tuesday, he made a real difference, terrorising their full back. Ditto Kouassi.

It was no surprise they both started yesterday.
 
C J's performance on Tuesday was exactly why he should not have started
He's started practically every game but looked more threatening coming on as sub on Tuesday
Playing the ball in space in front of him is best use of his asset, his speed especially against tired legs
Dembele had to be dropped to accommodate him
Starting with someone so averse to the physical side of the game against Stevenage was crazy

Jaff, whether a player starts or comes on as a sub they should still be able to have some impact and you can’t expect any manager to run a team on the proviso that 10% of his squad are only used as impact subs.
Gone are the days when Liverpool had the “super sub” David Fairclough and the likes, it’s just not viable.
I think CJ gets unnecessary criticism at times but I agree he had a mare on Saturday and like you said Dembele had very little or no impact but, he’s a professional footballer and should be able to do his job, whether that be the full 90 minutes or the last 10 or 15 minutes
Once again though a player has a bad game and it’s Critch’s fault. Like they say though it’s the players who step over the white line, not the manager, and the players should take responsibility
 
He’s an impact player, best used for maximum effect when the opposition are tiring. Give him 30 mins, hanging around the last defender. And he should never, ever, be expected to track back and act as defensive cover.
