Pleased we were dumped out of the EFL Cup

Didn’t feel like it at the time, however with our injury list as it is already, a week off is exactly what we need right now.
Ideally next weekend gets called off too for some bizarre reason….. super Kev is looming on the horizon ready for his next 4 game cameo then off until 2023

If we were in it, I would say good. A cup run is nice. But seeing as we are out, We can concentrate on the league. Always better to be positive.

Doubt we would be saying this had we gone on and drawn a big team on TV, never good to go out, even if if meant giving players like Bez, Apter and some of the youth a run out. It would also have counted as a banned game for Carey. A winning run is the best thing going for confidence etc

Doesn't count as a banned game. Bookings don't go towards totals either

Sorry only saying what I read when I read on some official site that the Burnley players ban would include the cup game so presume it would have been the same for us had we still been in the cup, which is also how I remember it in the past 🤔

Would rather have been in and put a different 11 out. Might still have got through with some kids and a few not used much players like Bez.
Would be interesting to see how that different XI looked and if we could muster the numbers?
Plus, It's Lincoln we would have faced and no way would Appleton want to lose to them.

Maxwell
Moore Thornily Husband Garbutt?
Trusty? Virtue Apter
Bez Madine CJ

Just a guess and not a complete change as a few were involved on sat as subs, but still. I would have put Daniels etc but a few are out on loan.

When you think the club have charged excessive ticket prices, a good cup run would bring in alot more money than the extra fiver theyve tried to fleece the casual home fan.

Fat lot of good that did Barrow - 3,011 there last night. Hardly pay for the away sides expenses.
I agree with the o/p sadly that we weren't geared for this competition this year.
Would be lovely to start a season with a fit and able 25 man squad so that this competition would be a help rather than a hinderance.

Brizzle have done it the right way. Got a squad together which means they can drop quite a few for the League Cup and progress to the latter stages - although ironically we'd have been facing them in the next round.
I think the important thing as AWT says about this competition is having your ducks in a row before the season starts.
Be interesting to see if the knock on effect of two wins has more benefit than potentially the tired legs of 3 games in 6 days.
