Plenty of petrol around

No. There was always plenty of petrol but there is a big shortage of drivers.

By the way, when the companies talk about crude being responsible for the price increases just remember that last time diesel was this expensive, crude was around $40 a barrel more expensive than it is today...

It was 100% orchestrated.

They wanted the price and margin up and managed to do it with little effort.
Close a couple of stations. Spread a media story - bingo - everyone panics and the price can be pushed up without any public objection.

Everywhere had petrol within 10 days without the army or an influx of foreign drivers. Price didn’t come down again did it?

It was the RHA, not the petrol retailers.

They wanted the government to give them a free pass to keep importing cheap EU labour to drive wages down, starting a petrol scare was their way of putting pressure on the gov't.

The gov't stood up to them and things are back to normal.

I’ve noticed prices at the pumps keep creeping up.
That 3p we saved on a pint of beer in the budget now gone on a litre of petrol/Diesel.

And I suspect the same with many of these "shortages", apparently we now have a shortage of veterinaries.

There is definitely a government plot to drive petrol and diesel cars off our roads. Expect petrol to hit 1.50+ a litre by Christmas. There’s not a chance I’d have a full electric car even if you gave it to me. Range is poor and dependent on some many variables.
