October 1984 it was.

I saw them in the Roman amphitheatre in Orange, France in 1986, where I remember chatting to Shane and Cait in a bar in the main square pre-gig. Also saw them in the Roseland Ballroom in Manhattan in June 1988 and a few times at the Apollo in Manchester, once with Kirsty MacColl singing with them. He was a masterful lyricist and songwriter, one of the greats, and the band were (are) fabulous musicians. A Pogues gig back then was something else. He was a brilliant one-off.

Just had a look at their touring history and they didn't form until 1983 and didn't play outside of London until late 1985.
Can't find any dates for Lancaster Uni but the gig history seems to be incorrect

I saw them at Manchester Polytechnic's Mandela Building on freshers week in 1985 but it has them down as playing the International
I have the same memory, I was down the front covered in sweat, bouncing up and down singing my heart out....They had that effect

Watched Shame MacGowan (not sure if it was with the Pogues)? at Holidays in the sun (now Rebellion) when it was at Morecambe, he was so drunk he had to be carried on stage, watched him fall over a few times then left to go watch another band.

Back in the 90s I used to see him from time to time in a pub called Molly Malones in Stoke Newington, London, drunk obvs. He had a good innings under the circumstances. Every story about him on the media seems to involve him being drunk or drinking. It's a shame, but he was involved in some very good songs. I don't think I ever saw him live.

Fantastic group, especially live. Saw them at the Scunthorpe Free Festival in 1985 (brilliant) and in Wolverhampton in the early 90’s, not as good but Shane had been dumped by then.
