On the back of the question being asked about the gate ate the North East corner being locked after games, has anybody got a proper suggestion about how to effectively police a home match?

The police don't have the luxury of saying "people should just behave", so there always has to be a plan in place. It seems to many that over and over again the plan seems flawed in several respects.

What ideas does anybody have, taking into account away fans will generally come from the promenade or car parks to the west of the ground, and will likely want to go back the same way. It's not an easy one when you really start to think about it.

How about letting everyone get on with it like nearly all the grounds us Pool fans attend even away at the Nobbers last season?
Those who want a punch up will find trouble just let those who don't crack on as fans will always meet outside any ground.

We seem to be in a situation when we're trying to stop something which simply isn't there.

There's plenty of evidencece that we have some wannabe hooligan dimwits. They have to be policed and, I suspect, the rest of us have to be inconvenienced because of it.

The issue is not wannabe hooligans, it's real hooligans which Blackpool have many of. There's no point denying it and the police simply don't deny it which is why it is heavily policed. It just seems all to cock, but when I've tried to have a serious think about it there doesn't seem to be an absolute best scenario. I hear time and time again people slating the police, I do it too, but it's a difficult task.

I say wannabe hooligans because it's all youngsters. I don't see any adult hooliganism.

They go to away games also and when we get let out it's off to our cars or train what's the difference?
Any restrictions like locking fans in and closing gates makes us all look like thugs which we ain't.

They close Bloomfield Rd off after the games so why not have the away fans coaches on Bloomfield rd for them to hop on outside the gate they exit. Or they built a new exit door on back Henry st so why don’t they leave by this exit straight onto coaches on Henry st. It as above leave fans to it but ffs open the nirth gate at the end of the game most of the north would have gone then by the time the away fans leave the ground.

Long term the logical solution to me would be for away fans to be in the North West corner and therefore closest to the coach parks, car parks and promenade and therefore home fans are left free to circulate on the side of the ground closest to where they’re too coming from. Will upset a few who sit in the NW but the stands are already well set up for it too with the dugout acting as a natural segregation under the stand and the the corridor under the NW simply needing a gate/wall. Home favs would be free to enjoy enhanced facilities and hopefully bigger better designed concourses in any new East stand too.

House away fans in the North and the problem is solved. If the coach park is used for what it was designed for, there would be no requirement to utilise Central Drive allowing easy access and egress.

This way, games that are policed, a nice friendly open cordon between supporters at the NW end would prevent unrest and violence, and very likely make the majority of fans (home and away) who don’t come for bother, feel more comfortable.

Home fans mainly know how to avoid hotspots and will use local knowledge to do just that, away fans don’t have that luxury. I say mainly as in recent seasons, the current set up has caused clashes leaving supporters with nowhere to turn but into dispersing away fans and vice versa - PNE for example. This was woeful, fed back and hopefully resolved!

I know some won’t like to be moved from the North. But this has to be the answer, nobody likes change, but it would work out long term. We have a cracking group that make a super atmosphere, but I moved from the North to the South because of some of the vile idiots we have. Wanting to fight with their own on derby day because they’ve snorted too much coke or had two pints of cider. It wasn’t pleasant and spoils it. I love a sing song more than anyone, but I don’t go to football to scrap, especially with a fellow Tangerine!

I’m sure we would be able to sort something to get us all under the same roof, have a pint or two, a good sing, friendly banter with away fans, out and home safely.

If people want to scrap, it’s normally obviously and those can be dealt with accordingly.

If the new East isn’t to meet the existing North then this is another good option - BUT I think the development of the community facilities behind the North probably suggests they see the North as a home fan only area for the long term.

In that case the only answer would be NW corner.

No issues with that either. Likely to cause little unrest as people move around in that area.
