Story of a young 10 year old black girl at school in Ireland. Part of the final day gymnastic display. All the other kids were presented with medals, and she, although in the lineup, was ignored and not given a medal.

The pictures show the young kid standing wringing her hands obviously extremely upset and close to tears. It has taken her parents 2 years to receive a two line apology.

Racism at its worst. Poor Kid.

That is an absolute disgrace 😡

What reason was given ? I know there is no reason good enough but what the hell did they say when they left her out ?
 
If it had happened to a white girl, sky would have covered it for a few days, not seen much media attention or on here about the school girl stabbed to death, maybe because she was black. Seems people are more interested in sycamore trees. Total disgrace.
 
The follow up to this gets worse. The judge apologised by email days later, and the Gymnastics Assoc sat on it, never passed it on. The parents went to mediation with a judge and the Assoc didn't turn up.

Absolutely disgusting.
 
When I first saw it I really wanted to give the woman the benefit of the doubt that she completely absent mindedly missed the little girl out - even though it was not a good look.

But what has happened since tells you it was done on purpose and the woman is nothing but an unabashed racist. Just scandalous.
 
It's one of the weirdest things I've ever seen, akin to the woman handing out the medals trying to implement her own apartheid or something.

There is absolutely no way this could have been done accidentally, but what has happened afterwards makes it feel like an entire group of people colluded for it to happen. Did they really think it would go unchallenged?
