Pork shop poulton

There’s a brilliant pie shop just next to Preston station (gong down fishergate hill away from what they call a town a centre), called Paul’s pies. He makes everything himself and comes up with some brilliant things as well as staple classics with peas and gravy. I had a doner style lamb sausage roll the other week that was class. Cheap as well.

Wife complained a few months ago about the pork pies going downhill
They apologised and gave her a £20 voucher which is very good .Unfortunately the produce she got with this voucher wasn't great either which suggests it has gone downhill

Had a large pork pie from the butchers near the Gardeners Arms. Best one I’ve had for ages. 👍

Two damn fine shops in Garstang for pies etc. Best in Lancashire imo, not that I’ve tried them all. 😏

What a load of bollocks …

A shop / retailer creates their own demand through the quality and desirability of their product as well as ensuring they are properly located.

There’s only one person to blame if the quality goes downhill and that’s the owner …
That's not quite true. If you are getting electricity bills in there thousands just to keep the pork intact. Then getting a rise in rent for the premises because the land owner wants more .Then you have less custom due to the fact people are trying to save money. Then you can keep your high standards ,but you are still going under.

No… It is all quite true… A business is either viable or not… The viability or lack thereof and more importantly the standard of the product produced is never down to lack of customer support.. Customer Support is driven by product value…

And the standards had slipped long before the energy crisis kicked in.

The issue here is how you increase the scale of a small artisan business, which relies on top end pricing through the production of low volume, high quality product.

The loss of quality pretty much always happens on scale up..

Your standards can stay high ,but if customers are now looking for value for money then they will look elsewhere . Also with the Tories in charge of this country your working class people will slowly turn to try and get value . The war in Ukraine just speeded things up . Its cheaper to go to a food bank then to go to the Pork Shop.

I’m sorry, but you’re not making much sense now really and have somehow managed to spin the blame for shit pies onto the Tory Government.

If your chosen market cannot sustain your business in the lean times (which are inevitable) and your customers choose to look elsewhere, because they no longer perceive value, then there’s an issue with your business model.

Governments come and go, wars happen, product and indirect prices fluctuate… All part of managing a business.

You actually write like a politician ,big words ,educated and yet not actually in touch with what's happening. No matter how hard you work to try and keep custom . If your outgoings are bigger then your incomings you will fail . In respect to the Pork Shop you may be right that its not down to external pressures from bills ,but in most cases businesses are shutting down because of the policies of a government that does not care about the working class people. .
If you think I am wrong talk to the NHS, the Royal mail and the train companies . Just by doing that you will have done more then the government has.

Big words or small ones…

If your business isn’t capable of maintaining itself during difficult times, then that’s a problem with the business.

Likewise the NHS, Mail Companies and the railways…. All suffer from the same fundamental issue… They are badly run, inefficient businesses that fail to deliver value to the end user.

Of course this is a thread about shit pies (or intermittently shit pies) and not about the Government or politics … We have a separate forum to discuss political bollocks (for those minded to be arsed).

Shit Pies result from shit standards… simple as that

It was you that brought in the business talk . I have never been to the Pork Shop so I wouldn't know . You then went off on a tangent about running businesses . Anyway your right I don't want to talk politics now . So have a Happy New Year and hope the Pork Shop improves.
