Portillo Coastal Railways

Throughout the various series he's had some, shall we politely say, vivid colours on. Pink jackets, yellow jackets, green trousers.

Programme's always a great watch. Very enjoyable.

Lovely series - like all his other ones, top TV
You're right Bend It. Never was a Tory Minister so reviled in 1997 that I knew many people who only went to bed after his defeat was announced. Since then he has seen the light. I actually believe that he caught the seitgeist and didn't like what he saw in the mirror. He has become a decent broadcaster with his programmes.

Soft and fluffy Tv and you know, there’s nothing wrong with that sometimes. A bit like nature programs, they just wash over you nicely.

I think he buys his clothes from Boundary Mill in Colne, I referred to it as Portillo's to a fellow camper at the Blues Festival a few years ago, after he'd been dragged there by his missis & he got it straight away. For a massive store they've got some terrible stuff, you see many people wearing odd coloured trousers etc, I mean yellow! Oh for the record I bought a small black rucksack & some socks.
As for Portillo he's a good presenter & I like railways.

A couple of his railway programmes over the years have featured Blackpool. He came across as having a genuine affection for the town having attended many Tory conferences.

You are aware that he is (and was) anti-nuclear weapons?
No I wasn't but to be brutally honest I'm not that arsed about them anymore, I dont see what good they do a small insignificant island if the coast of Europe nowadays. I'd rather the money be spent on convectional forces and a hundred other things I could list. America and Russia have enough for all of us to kiss goodbye to our arses ..

Hes a bit AC/DC for my liking but an awesome presenter and one f the few programs I watch. Just wish he would tone down his feminine side.

Fully agree.

Thanks for the heads up everyone. Mrs R and I caught up with it last night. Brilliant.

What struck me was, for the first time in ages, seeing a friendly, welcoming Scotland, represented once again, as a fully fledged member of the UK. It contained none of the noise and angst, that the SNP'ers have been responsible for, that has done Scotland such a disservice. I might be encouraged to return.

And that limp of his. He looks like he's got a dicky hip?

I loved these programmes, but if anyone hasn't seen it, go to My5 - and see his Channel Five series of his coastal walk around Devon and Cornwall. It's probably the best thing C5 have ever produced. Beautifully shot, reflective and at times quite touching.
