Poveda and Corbeanu

How are these two going to get in the team the way we're playing? And how will Wolves and Leeds respond if they're still sidelined come the international break? I know they are only a hammy or a knock away from a place in the side, but the current front three seem pretty solid.

I see this as a positive, alternative would be who comes in If one of the front three injured, we have no depth in the squad!
Better to have players fighting for a place than a complacent first 11 with little competition.

We saw with the Ollie era that having a mixture of skill sets in the front 3 is important. You'd be happy with any of a front 3 of DJ, GTF, Dobbie and Brett with Burgess, Clarke, Bouazza, Nardiello and JET to mix it up and give the opposition something to think about if it wasn't working.

Same in the West Ham play off final season with KP, Matty Phillips, GTF and Ince the "A Team" with Dicko, Bednar, Lualua, Dobbie and McManaman coming in and out and making important contributions.

Wide range of styles of players and options.

Madine, Yates and CJ is working currently but the time will come when Lavery, Poveda, Theo, Keshi and Beesley will need to contribute. It keeps us fresh and unpredictable.

It’s great that we have these players chomping at the bit. We would have said the same about CJ a few weeks ago and he’s been brilliant.

The other lads will get their chance and it’s up to them to take it, we’ve got great competition for places.

Appleton has found a way that players will work I. His preferred 4-3-3.
I said early on in the season that it wouldn't work with bowler and madine up top, madine has to work the middle of the park and bowler was too static on the right waiting for the ball to come to him with a strong likely hood that he would always want to come inside, and rarely looked up to pass to teammates. With Jerry, CJ and lavery there are players with the capability to see a simple pass or take players on or just work really hard. Same in the midfield, one holding, breaking up and two sharing creative or getting up to support madine, but it's been quite flexible the last few games. It will be interesting to see who can drop into the system that is proving to be quite successful. I don't think Theo can do it, as he's too head down, fiorini also also seemed like a head down player. Poveda looks to have a bit more about him but might not have the stamina.
Keshi should drop in quite easily and beesley will be a slightly more mobile option for madine when the sticking plasters and duct tape finally gives up.

Don't agree about Fiorini and he plays midfield three not front three, Corbeanu has something to offer as an impact sub, Poveda has had some good moments, maybe he's in the same category as Corbeanu.

Wasn't thinking about fiorini up top, and being fair to him he's not had much time, but he did seem rather head down. When he had a lot of space to operate is when he impressed. In comparison to Patino and Carey for that matter they both have the ability to recieve the ball in very tight space and know when to do simple stuff.
The interesting thing is a standard is now being set, which players have to meet when they come in.

Might be in a position fairly soon where good players don't get a place on the bench!

I think it’s a more difficult conversation with parent clubs if you’re losing and not playing them.
We’ve played them and now they can’t get in the team as we are winning.
That's a good point. Just wondering how much is conversation, and how much is part of the loan contract. It would be nice to have the luxury of bringing them on for twenty minutes at, say, three nil up.

I think Theo may come in tomorrow. Either Theo or Lavery.

Leeds can’t say anything, they’ve loaned us out a player who literally cannot last 90 minutes.

They'll get their chance but you shouldn't change something that works, unless forced to.
If the players were machines that you just wheeled out every game with no fluctuations in fitness I'd agree with you.
But they aren't, Madine in particular, which is a shame because he has become an important player in this system.
Do you start him and take a chance on his fitness and sub him early, or do you bring Lavery in and put Yates down the middle?
With games coming thick and fast it's not as simple as same again unfortunately.

Poveda looks as though he hasn't recovered from his old injury and Theo done ok and is a Good option to have with his pace

It's a tough one. If Madine needs a rest, either Tuesday or Saturday, then, to keep the same formation, our only real option is to put Jerry down the middle and work out the best wide options. But it does take away two of the major reasons for our great form the last month.

Lavery and CJ for width maybe? Or perhaps he'd go Shayne in the middle, play more on the deck through Patino/Carey, and keep Jerry where he's been most effective. It's a front three that will run all night and cause any lumbering giants a headache, but they're going to have to be passing well, or we'll end up with one of our frustrating, toothless nights.

I’d agree with you on that & I could argue that comes under being forced to make changes in order to avoid fatigue and further injuries. 👍

No subs used on Saturday (including the two named), so it's safe to assume MA already has a different starting 11 & setup planned for WBA.
When they get their chance, the two players must grab it with both hands like others have.
As Chunk says, hopefully, as we're a winning side, the two clubs will appreciate that a manager doesn't change that.

Their chance will come and who knows, maybe tomorrow if someone has picked up a niggle! The nature of it, injuries, suspensions and form dips will ensure chances come.

Realistically they couldn't say to their parent club 'I should be playing ahead of.....'.

All part of the learning process.
