Prigozhin.

Prigozhin was once Putins personal chef.

Maybe this is revenge for pissing in his soup all those years ago.

Vegetius, around 380 AD.

Matthew 26.52 is "those who live by the sword, die by the sword".
It is indeed. It was supposed to have been said by Christ when his followers were going to confront the Roman guards arresting him. Which was the point I originally wanted to make to Jaffa.

End all conflict by refusing to take part in it.

How would that have played out in World War 2?

So we were all logging into twitter, getting notifications from BBC news straight onto our smart phones in 1939 in Poland were we?
Pretty clear point you're missing.

"End all conflict by refusing to take part in it."

You're Atlee/the UK and Hitler starts WW2. What's the plan?

Oh, we’ve gone back in time and is WW2z. Ok. Have you signed up then?
Is your point that because we can never know the outcome of events, we should always do nothing?

Try to be less sarcastic and more articulate.

If it makes things easier let's avoid a historical 'known' event.

Person A is running towards a group of innocent people with a bomb. You have a gun. Do you 'refuse to take part in conflict'?

I’ll buy you a drink when I’m at Bloomfield Rd in a couple of months and we can take part in a healthy, respectful and informative discussion. Perhaps we will both learn something.

I’ll be sticking to the football side of the board from now on.

God bless you brother.

Looks like Putin has made himself a target for Prigozhin’s mercenaries.
He might make himself scarce again.
However, if Putin thinks he can just order a bunch of mercenaries around, get them to swear allegiance, dish out false promises, not pay them enough money / not supply them with a similar level of support, food and armament, they will just piss off into the wind. Or maybe Ukraine will hire them instead, now they have a motive for switching sides.
I’m sure Ukraine will be delighted with these developments. This feels like a fast track to Russia’s defeat and a hasty withdrawal from Ukraine.
Ukraine should then retake Crimea just to really take the biscuit.
That‘s not a scenario Putin could survive as leader.
