Putting collective wisdom into action

Personally speaking, I can't help wondering why a rookie manager wasn't teamed up with a seasoned sidekick à la Grayson and Parkes (?) - it still isn't too late for that!

All the stuff about rigid formations, no plan b or c, timid and unimaginative substitutions, lack of confidence and inspiration, failure to look reality square in the face, etc., are all unfortunately true of Critch right now.

Yes, with Notts gone, we probably need to let Teddy go out on loan and bring in that seemingly elusive midfield general and another central striker (hopefully both with at least some experience), but for pity's sake please let us recruit an assistant who knows the ropes!

Like many on here, I have a gut-feeling that someone with the knack could get so much more out of the present squad - especially if we include the new centre backs now on board.

The buck stops with the boss, it's true - but he shouldn't be left to flounder.

Im not so sure the experienced manager or sidekick carries much weight. If you look at this board it’s full of managers that no best and to the best of my knowledge none of them have even been on a coaching course 😂.There’s loads of experienced managers that are absolute garbage and there’s plenty with no where near the experience of some that are doing great. I asked this question before so who would you want to replace NC and what reason other than he has more experience in management.

We need a tactical dinosaur who can go back to playing 442, hitting it long from the back up to a big/little man combo like the good old days that brought us so much success.

The fans can then give him 5 games before getting on his back, demanding for his head.

There is a certain section of our fan base who will never be happy, no matter who is in charge, until we are top of the league and spanking everyone put in front of us..... How we get there is yet to be discovered.

We had the "proven at League One level" manager in Grayson..... how did that end? Surely not by the fans getting on his back, and wanting him fired.

This is where the "sack him now" argument holds little weight, there is no viable alternative who would come in and instantly turn it around. It's just asking for change for the sake of it.

I think the Graydon-Parkes idea is a good one. I know Grayson was poor second time around but first time he was excellent. I believe it was his own idea to bring in Parkes and I think it was the best signing he made.
Critchley would be wise to bring in an experienced no. 2 he is comfortable with.

Got to totally agree with this. Can't help feeling Critchley has been hung out to dry a bit here.
