Quality

When it comes down to it, there’s simply not 3 worse teams in the league.
I can’t see which of this group will be playing at a higher level than us next season, most of them are league 1 standard. That’s why every week there’s an individual error that costs us. I don’t think they’re outworked, out-coached you could argue.. but they’re just not good enough. There’s a lot of blinkered views on the team, I remember people sharing they were too good to go down and asking Rangers for 7 million when it comes to Jerry. None of these players will be championship starters next year.

League 1 side mid table at best. Will be a large fall in attendances next season and 7million in lost TV revenue. Looks like an expensive mistake not potting Appleton after the Wigan game. That’s when the rot got a 100 times worse.

We haven’t looked to improve any positions in the squad. If you’re forward thinking, you look at topping up on quality but we’ve been happy with Madine, Yates, Husband, Dougall, Connolly etc. decent squad players but they can only take you so far. We’ve fallen on our sword, almost deliberately.

We did OK in our first season back and stayed up quite easily, but it's no coincidence that promoted teams improve the quality of their squads by adding players, even if it means some of the "old heroes" depart. Its called strengthening to consolidate your position, we failed miserably because we thought we could get away with doing it on the cheap. It's all come home to roost and we look a poor team, there's no way back from this now (there hasn't been for weeks to be fair) you reap what you sow.
