1. Why not rest regular key players today, e.g. Ekpiteta, Husband and Anderson? At present, Anderson, in particular, is someone we can ill afford to lose to injury. (Instead, we should have started with Casey, Garbutt and Mitchell (Mariette, even). If they're not good enough to feature from the off against Hartlepool, there's something seriously amiss).

2. When will Critchley finally work out how to make effective substitutions, i.e. the right choices at the right times?

3. What exactly has Jerry done to now find himself almost permanently on the fringe?

4. How come we seem to go through bad patches when there's no experienced assistant coach in place? Is it merely coincidence? Do we need the likes of a Steve Thompson joining the staff even more urgently than previously imagined?

1. Agree

2. I don’t know

3. A great mystery especially when Lavery is struggling so badly

4. Agree. We need to get that No.2 in quickly to help NC in this difficult part of the season.

We are badly missing a leader on the pitch who could have got a grip of that 2nd half performance and when is Kevin Stewart going to be available.

Let some fringe players play . Give them crucial game time . Let them step up to the plate . If we lose then at least they have played a match and we have rested some of our players for what is potentially a 6 pointer vs Barnsley .
As it stands we are out anyway , and now missing crucial players . Positive is we now know we must spend a bit of money if we have any chance of staying in this league

“Any chance”? That’s an outrageous exaggeration and incredibly unfair on the brilliant work the team has done to be mid table after halfway point in their first season back in the championship. You know full well if we don’t sign anybody we still have a great chance of staying up. Yes a couple of signings would help but it is utterly painful to read these lazy exaggerations, and depressing that people don’t think a bit before they post.

Apart from staying up his post is pretty much spot on.

You mean apart from the bit I was talking about 😂
I agree with you Alf regards the good work done so far, but an opinion that several changes today was probably 5he right thing* to do. It doesn’t need to be hindsight to say we should of rested some of our best players today. Barnsley away is a massive game. There’s an opinion NC stubbornness to keep the integrity of the game in tact could cost us big time. I’m not saying it will but it’s certainly not done us any favours today.

Were possibly in a false position in the league due to having played more games than everyone else, now were without Keshi and husband, most likely for a few months.

Yes we need to spend.

Agree we should have rested players and agree we could do with 1 key signing at least, but I think it’s ridiculous to say we need to spend money to have ‘any chance’ of staying up. I might agree with that if we had Lee Clark in charge and Francois Zoko up front. But our squad as it stands have shown they are more than capable of staying up and I believe they will do exactly that with or without additions. Stewart and Ward will come back and be brilliant and change this whole conversation, for one.

It just bothers me when people lazily reach for doom and gloom because nuance is somehow more boring. We’re gonna stay up this year, I guarantee.

I don’t necessarily feel we need to spend loads of money to stay up, however todays injuries will undoubtably make things a lot harder. I don’t see this transfer window being necessarily great under the current climate. But who knows, let’s see.

Good post. When we set up at the start of the season I honestly thought Critchley was going for full cover in every position. That seems to have gone the same way as a good goalscorer.

I’d have played Yates & Gabriel if I’d been picking what I thought to be our best 11. That’s without fully knowing what goes on behind the scenes. I’d have also had Trusty on the bench. Despite that the team we put our should have won today.
On an amusing theme I wonder what that cross eyed woman at Newcastle is thinking after their defeat.
