Really looking forward to this.According to the Pompey site. A good pub for away fans is The Good Companion. 10 mins walk from ground. Can anyone confirm this, also is parking available nearby, or are there better options.

Check out The Football Ground Guide website, tons of info on there. The pub you mention does get referred to and gets good reviews.
 
Lived in Portsmouth for 25 years, never went in the Good Companion. It's a large pub at the end of the Eastern Rd on the way into Portsmouth that does food.

If you fancy a few pubs in close proximity I'd recommend Albert Rd, Southsea. Start at the King's Theatre end (Vaults, King's and a few others there) then work your way up Albert Rd (Bold Forestor, Leopold, Festings) and end up at the Merchant House. From there its about 10 minutes walk to the away end.

When I did Fratton Park with Pool a few years ago I stuck to Southsea for my pre-match beers.

The same happened to me when we played WBA. Somebody obviously saw me get out in colours and took it upon themselves to remove my wing mirror with their foot and scratch the whole side, twice! Scumbags. I was livid, but you cant blame everyone. Just a handful of idiots and we all have them. Didn’t put me off returning!

Enjoy Pompey all. I was considering a road trip but maybe a tad far on this occasion. Fair play to those making the journey.

Letting the train take the strain. Fratton Station not far from the ground and no vandalism.
 
It‘s a rough place Fratton — I used to work there occasionally and couldn’t wait to get out.

There are not many pubs let alone decent one‘s any where near the ground — IoW is nice if you have half a day to kill

Wish i was but doing Cambridge instead as my lad wants to tick it off, so i’ll meet him there) we’ve done pompey and i’ve done Cambridge) and couldn’t really justify the spend for two long ones at the moment….
 
I remember going to our away game at Portsmouth 14th Feb 1970(promotion year) a great 3-2 win 👏🏻 left Blackpool at midnight by coach but after the match we managed to escape to the supporters club chased by a mob of home fans who didn’t like losing 🤷🏽‍♂️ let’s home we win on Saturday to really set our promotion push going.
 
Factoring in the long round trip I rate this as the toughest remaining fixture of the season and a great incentive to go all out for a win.
Three points would put us within 6 points of them (albeit they have a couple of games in hand).
Bearing in mind that we are ony just beginning to get into our stride and the current strength of the squad I think there is plenty to look forward to.
 
Only been once - where is anywhere decent for away fans near to the McDonalds behind the ground?
