Rebellion 2024 - The Stranglers confirmed.

Saw them 2 years ago at Stone Valley North, they were awesome and the highlight of the festival for me….I know, I know Hugh isn’t there but the new guy is everything that a Stranglers front man should be 😎🇯🇲

Are any of the original members in the line up, maybe JJB if he's well. Would rather listen to a live recording made in the late 70's.

Last saw the Stranglers at 53 degrees in Nobberville.
Jet and Dave were still with us RIP lads.

Took my lads to the gig, with my youngest moaning on the way there how shit it'd be watching old men.
After the gig he was buzzing 🤣👍🏻

You thought he'd have learned, saying the same things about PIL at King George's hall.
Exactly the same outcome😉👍🏻

I was at that one. My ex was complaining about all the old men in the audience 😀

They were brilliant when I saw the original lineup in 1978 at Leeds University. I remember the tickets cost a fortune at the time because they were so popular - about £9 - that was about 4 times the charge for other gigs at the uni.

You could get in Erics to see great bands for £2.

Sadly, the Stranglers can never be the same now without Dave G. Biggest loss of the pandemic. Only JJB left of that great original band. I treasure the memories of some fantastic gigs.
i feel the same, they are still a fantastic band live and toby hounsham is a very very good keyboard player, and was a massive stranglers fan and a particular fan of greenfield so he has the keyboard parts down, but it is different

Baz Warne is a really good front man.
IMO the biggest loss was Dave Greenfield.
I have this debate with one of my bezzers all the time, Hugh had a great voice looked cool and had a sinister air about him as did the whole band. The new guy is not very cool bald and a voice not as good IMO.

The loss of anyone from a band will detract from the original feel and sound obviously and as we all get older this is inevitable and it’s a great shame but I counter this by constantly searching out new music to listen too where as others I know prefer to listen to what they always have done.

I’ve seen the Stranglers with the new guy and I’ve seen Hugh on his own and Hugh wins hands down for me🤘

He got chucked out of the Toy Dolls.

NTE was poor but TTD had some great songs - saw them play quite a few times - 👍👍
Would be better seeing you front a band, maybe the Buzzcocks or Joy Division, would be better than a youtube channel influencer. Can you do ever fallen in love and shes lost control as a test.

Had to drive to the local city and back today and this thread inspired me to listen to The Stranglers, The Raven, Rattus and Black and white in that order, not a weak track on the first two B & W possibly a couple but I’d forgotten how much I loved em back in the day and remembered how disappointed I was when Hugh left.
