Reece James to Sheffield Wednesday

From BFC - I think it's a good deal for both sides.

Reece James has completed a permanent transfer to Sheffield Wednesday for an undisclosed fee.

The 29-year-old enjoyed a successful loan at Hillsborough last season, making 34 appearances in all competitions as Wednesday secured promotion back to the Sky Bet Championship.

The Club would like to thank Reece for all of his efforts in tangerine, and wishes him the very best for the future.

Not sure if this is good for us, all depends on how much we got as he would have been a real asset for the upcoming season 🤔

I think Dale will go too and probably but fingers crossed not, Yates and a couple of others too so we will still be looking to add another 4 or 5 I would guess.

He’s not featured in any of the Pre-Season videos and so it was looking likely that he’d go. Never really managed to establish himself with us tbh and so if we’ve got a fee then the deal is probably the best thing for all concerned.

I’d have been happy for him to stay and I’m fine with him going. 👍

At least that puts do bet the lobbying for him to be given a chance. We have better options and if we are serious about an instant promotion we have to be somewhat ruthless

Not sure who the better options are? Husband showed some decline last season albeit in the Championship and Dom Thompson is going to have to show a lot of improvement to justify a place in the starting eleven. It may be we have someone lined up to come in or the young lad Lankshear will be given a chance.

I rate Husband generally and League One is easy for him. I reckon Critchley will coach Thompson into a player. The reason we were so poor in decision making was the lack of a general in midfield, leaving us exposed which has already been rectified.

Yeah good luck to the lad, obviously had a good season with Wednesday but on his performances we've seen it's like we're not losing much special.

Hope he has a good career with SW.

Not sure about ruthless. Reece wanted to go and we agreed to it. Best decision all round

He was happier at Wednesday than he was here so good look to him. I thought hevwas a good player to be fair. He j6st didn't seem to fit in with our system. Glad we got a fee for him though.

He's a bit of a nearly player, utility man. Played centre back in a 3 for Wednesday, but only 5' 9" and lacks physical strength. Quite good at getting forward but hardly brilliant. There are plenty pleased he's back on Owlstalk but....

"Thought James did really well last season but with limited resources I was hoping for better in the Championship. Certainly don’t think James is good enough to play CB. Hoped for more pace and better delivery at FB. Oh well, seems we’re still shopping at Poundland. Hoping he turns out to be a bargain.

"Hopefully a back up option rather than first choice.

"Good to have an additional body, but, and I hope he proves me wrong, I’m not convinced he’s good enough for the championship. All players have moments where they can do better, but the way he got bullied at Wembley for the Dawson save he’ll be up against every week, and it ties in with what we’d heard when he arrived, not athletic enough for that level above. Like I say hope he proves me very wrong but I think we are struggling if he starts many games.

Obviously not a Championship club which is why he's now moved to ...AHH the Massive did get promoted and he scored a pretty good goal to help them on their way .
We didn't rate him, going off some of the posters onthis thread , they do.
I wish him well

On the fact he played a big part of a team that won promotion, and now this bigger club in a league higher than us and they want him back as they rate him, and you don’t 😂😂
Massive assumption that he played a big part. How many Sheffield Wednesday games did you get to last year ?

Whenever he played for us.... he looked weak..... defensively and going forward. So I'll base my opinion on what I've seen.
