Ref

The only thing I’ll give in his favour is he booked a player diving to win a pen. Had that not happened, it would look even worse. 8 minutes - the 4th official was complicit too

I don’t normally like complaining about the performance of the ref but fuck me. I wouldn’t be surprised if he was just some weapon who turned up in a fancy dress costume

Both reds were right.

However, he let them go on a 5 minute snapping trip and lost control,

He missed a clear foul on Marv and then gave them a corner which was our goal kick.

The penalty??! If that’s a penalty you’re looking at giving 20 plus pens a game

Then you’ve got the 8 minutes injury time.

Then a clear as day foul on Maxwell for their goal that’s given every single time.

Blatant.

Then you’ve got the absolute nonsense at the end, Lavery thrown to the floor for a red

Totally out of his depth and interestingly born in Lancashire, anywhere idea where anyone?!

But guess what??

We’ll get a hefty fine, he’ll get away with it Scot free.

Disgraceful useless **.

The Ekpiteta and Thompson decisions were fair, but if he was being consistent Sheffield United would have been down a man too.

The 8 minutes was shocking as was the missed foul on Maxwell for their equalizer.

Robbed of 2 points.
Yes they were fair but Sheffield were kicking lumps out of our lads with no redress.

Got to appeal Laverys, someone said you can't as its after the game, surely you can as you cant just randomly send people off and it stand.

Although they missed the penalty the actual decision to give it was a big clue to him being bent.

How many far worse and obviously worse fouls did he not blow for (both teams) throughout the game?
He couldn't blow his whistle fast enough to give them that pen.....

Every name he gets called on here tonight will not be enough as that's as Homer as a Homer could be in the homiest home ever.

His fuckery started when Bridcutt was out cold. Lost the plot. He needs to fuck off back to the North West counties.

Super Brett said the ref was their MOM, which highlights was an incompetent official he was.
It's bad enough when we lose 2 points in added time, but when it's due to a cheating ref, it's sickening.
I'm absolutely gutted tonight for our players and MA.
However, they need to park this and get 6 points from the next two games 🧡 🍊

I think at least two SU players should have got straight reds. The stamp tackle on Patino and the potential leg breaker by their right-back on Jerry by the by-line. They were tackles born out of frustration, premeditated and the dangerous nature of them is why they should have gone. No complaints with big Marv going but I'm not sure about the Thompson one. Did he book any SU player in the melee? Then the penalty decision. The the 8 minutes added on time. Then the four (?) consecutive corner,s during which Williams got kicked in the head, Maxwell got blatantly fouled at least once and I thought two of them should have been goal kicks. In summary, the worst set of officials I've ever seen. More incompetent than ThickLizzy!

Got to agree with all the above comments.
He also missed a blatant hand ball by Connelly which should have been a penalty.
Thing is, no matter how much we complain it won’t change the result.
On a positive I thought we totally outplayed them and made them look like a lower division outfit.

There's no investigation going to happen though, the referees are above criticism, after a show like that it'll be the manager under investigation if he tells the truth.

Agreed, he was so bad he missed the one decision they SHOULD have got.

2nd yellow for Thompson was very harsh considering his previous leniency towards SU players.

Annoyed me when Thompson showed him that his arm was bleeding from being pushed into the advertising board and he wasn’t interested

He was ok first half; but perhaps because we were losing 2-0 for a lot of it.

But the second half was about as one sided as it's gets.

At one stage, there were 7 yellows; 5 for them (2 could have been straight reds) and 2 for us.

Both our players for second yellows for similar fouls to what he ignored for SU.

The penalty was a terrible decision.

The goal was after a foul on Max.

Inconsistent to the point of corruption.

What about in the 1st half a Sheffield United player pushed our man in the back and into touch and they gave a throw in to them and it was right in front of the linesman, the blind fecker!

Yep that was on Lavery.

If you watch 90% of linesmen they don’t want to make a decision, just wait for the ref.

The standard is shite.

I think he might have outdone Lee Mason, seriously. Astonishing. Brett was right when he said "If he'd have flipped a coin he'd have got more right".
Lee Mason was a complete incompetent ref and must have gone to the same ref school as the idiot today. I see Mason was on VAR duty today at the Spurs game no wonder VAR is rubbish. The ref today is not fit to ref Sunday league. You have to question why he was determined to let Sheffield Utd get something today. It beggars belief.

It's started in the first minute. We were pulled up for two nothing challenges, then there was a nasty little dig at young Patino which seemed quite cynical but not even a Free kick. A couple of mins later there was a deliberate trip on Jerry as he turned past the defender, not even judged a FK. And it went on.
We've had some truly awful officials this season, genuinely Truss levels of cluelessness. I struggle to believe that the refs are actually corrupt, even though I KNOW the FA are. However that performance today has got me genuinely thinking the ref wasn't just a homer but was looking to actually manipulate the game. He's got form for being an attention seeker, and for bizarre decisions. The refs body, and the FA and EFL will gather round and back him up, Sheffield will get a small Blackpool will get a bigger one and the refs actual complicity in creating the problems today will not even be considered

Didn’t West Brom have an issue with the same ref earlier in the season?

How the fuck they get these gigs is beyond me!
