Released Championship Players

Does anyone know when the PL released lists are erm...... released? I thought they were due 7 days after the end of the season, but only Forest and Wolves are out yet.

Dan Butterworth from Blackburn might be worth a look, had a decent season on loan at Port Vale, and there's a 20 y/o keeper who might be worth a look for the reserves.

Moore from Brizzle, obviously.

Tyler Walker from Coventry is 26 and has a decent record at this level.

I would be going all out for Taylor-Moore, Powell and dowell (both northwest lads and midfielders)

Keshi anderson ***
Daniel ayala **
Sam Byram **
Bradley dack *
Taylor moore ***
Fankaty dabo *
Kieran dowell ***
Aden flint *
Nick Powell ***
Steven caulker *
Ryan nyambe *

If we're flying I think Dack would be an asset. If we're backs to the wall I'd rather not. He's a luxury.

Several of those would be out of reach wages wise for us as a Championship club let alone in L1.

The likes of Dack, Byrom, Ayala, Powell are complete pie in the sky imo

I dare say we won’t sign any of them in my list. It’s just ambition. If you want to get promoted out of league 1 you have to have players with ability better than league 1.
These are the players we should be going in for IMO

Dack and Powell are both 29, seemingly past their best, will they get many offers from Championship clubs? Would a move to Ipswich or Plymouth be attractive to them?

If they have to drop to L1, then we could be in the running.

Kiran Dowell good player has or is signing for Ranger's
I would go for Danny Mayor, winger released by Plymouth a super player a North West lad as well
Danny Mayor was a good player a few years ago but declining and would certainly not pass the PNE tattoo test 👎

Ambition isn't signing injury prone (Dack) and past it (Ayala) type players, on massive wages, theres a big difference between being ambitious and being foolish, because they're names and people have heard of them doesn't make it ambitous to sign them,

Ambition is investing in getting recruitment right from the top down and identifying players to find the next Jerry Yates or Andy Lyons etc
There are lots of players in L1 and 2 and indeed non league who are better than L1, I'm not saying if the right talismanic type signing becomes available we shouldn't go for it, but there has to be balance

I do agree with what you are saying. However, the thread was on about released championship players.

Most of the players I listed will be battled over by lower championship/top league 1 clubs. We should be competing in this bracket/type of players.

Dack would be the biggest risk out of the all/but potentially the biggest reward.

Ayala is an experienced CB that would be a useful addition. Admittedly wages may be a stumbling block for most of these.

Ayala was reportedly on 15k at Blackburn, there is no way he will get as much as that.

Powell would be a wow signing and Critch must know him from Crewe - but his injury record isn't good

Agree that Dack would be a risk but he's been at Blackburn for 6 years so will probably be settled in the North West, injury free he would be a great addition.
As would Taylor Moore.

To combine the other thread on League 1 players released, Luke Jephcott would be another great addition if Critchley could get him firing again, along with Cole Stockton and Connor Ripley both released by Morecambe.

Joe Lumley
Aden Flint
Sam Clucas
Luke Jephcott
Tyler Walker

All worth a shout imo
Lumley is awful, gone down hill in a big way recently if you listen to fans of his previous club or two.

There's other CH's I'd take before Flint tbh

Clucas is an interesting one, assuming he's not crocked he should be absolute quality in L1

Not the Morecambe lads they are poor players. If we sign these we are on the 💩

Given we have Grimshaw already I would definitely take a punt on Lumley. There’s a good keeper in there.

Ripley is awful

There's always room for the odd experienced head if they have a good injury record, a good attitude and aren't going to blow the budget. There's a few on that list who look like expensive sicknotes which is the last thing we need.

Keogh seemed to tick all the boxes, I'm sure others can too but I hope we do our due diligence.

I won't pretend to know every player on that list well but Deeney is the stand out veteran on that list for me.

Says a lot about Macclesfield Town`s intent that a player on that list is allegedly joining them in the Northern Premier League!

An ex-England player at that...

Bradley Dack? Lets just say he is in the Kevin Stewart league of time sat in the stand, no thanks.
He was unlucky to do his left knee not long after he got back from a long time out for the same injury on his right knee, but prior to that he was a regular 3,000+ minutes per season player, so to compare him to Stewart is just wrong.

I wonder if Critch fancies any of the QPR boys?

If you are talking about the established senior players who will have earned 3 or 4 times what our players were earning and had a right good go at getting relegated then I fecking hope not !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Seriously though, I'm sure some of the younger players will have impressed him during his time there and it wouldn't be a surprise for him to try and get any that are available.

Agreed, Dack is hardly injury prone. He had two ACL's, one straight after coming back from the first, but other than that his injury record is good!

You do the numbers in terms of game time v physio time and you'll find Dack is a very expensive player to have on your books, clearly that's why Rovers are releasing him, they're no daft and know he's quality but unfortunately he's too much of a gamble.

He had two bad injuries in succession, before that he was consistently playing 40+ games per season, he's not a player who manages a handful of games and then breaks down for the next 3 months.

Clearly Rovers don't think he's the player he once was, but I think he'd be a good addition for most Championship clubs, and if he dropped to L1 he'd be outstanding.

I wouldn't argue on him being outstanding in L1 pal, he would be, but he is too much of a gamble for me given his too serious injuries and how much he'd cost, I'd imagine he wouldn't get out of bed for less than £6k a week, I think after the Kevin Stewart experience we will be very wary of players coming back off injuries and former PL and C/Ship players getting older and if they have the body and the desire to be still motivated to play in L1.

To be clear, he had a ruptured ACL in his right knee, followed by the same in his left knee, those are impact injuries that can happen to any player, and are not a sign of the "Kevin Stewart" you seem to think he is.

Cole Stockton has gone to Burton
