……my dad, like yours possibly, used to write quite a few as a caring, long suffering, passionate Blackpool fan. I remember many a Saturday evening and Sunday morning him penning a 3 or 4 page self proclaimed masterpiece that would go in the post first thing Monday to the sports editor after another terrible performance or for something else that had annoyed him in the running of our proud club.
The usual response for his 9 times out of 10 letter of the week was other fans quoting him in the next few nights papers which he was quite proud of but every now and again he would get a call from the club to see if he could pop in and have a chat about his grievances with the manager or chairman at the time.
I used to find it quite funny at the time that they wanted to listen to Mr Angry from the West Paddock or Mr Bored from St Annes as me and my footy mates used to call him but we were always sat waiting when he came back or next time we were all in the pub together before a game to hear what had been discussed and if anything was going to be done to address his (and usually our) concerns.
Well Simon the reason for this post is that in my opinion you need to sit and listen to a few normal, passionate, long suffering fans to hear our simple opinions on where things are going wrong with our proud club because in my opinion you are being flannelled by your own appointed yes men and officials who work in the football world to the point of being protected from reality and for you to only hear what you want to hear.
The ones I’m thinking of don’t represent fans groups, don’t abuse the club online, aren’t interested in Bury, Rochdale, Coventry etc but are just normal, passionate Blackpool fans worried about the direction our club seems to be going in and probably have simple ideas and beliefs into how things could be put right.

Good post. Remember the letters well, as I'm sure many will. 👍.

My Dad emailed Mansford a few years ago and got a response. Simon probably isn’t who you’d contact for day to day issues but I think Julian Winter would respond to any concerns.

I wonder what Mr Sadler makes of the calibre of ‘executives’ in football compared to his team in Segantii.
It’s worthy of noting that Jim Ratcliffe has brought his trusted Ineos people into MUFC to sort out strategy, operational planning and delivery.

Completely agree about football administrators - lot of frauds out there, get a junior job in admin at one club and jump up the ladder across clubs. There must be decent managerial level people out there in other industries who can transpose their skills, and who can learn the nuances of football. That surely is a faster learning curve than a failed wannabe footballer promoted beyond his capabilities.

Not sure at this moment in time it’s day to day issues Sven, the whole thing is a mess at the moment and in my opinion if things don’t change quickly then the feel good factor that is diminishing rapidly will disappear altogether

In fairness, I agree with what you are saying here to be honest. I do think there needs to be a bit of give from the fans though… And I’m not talking about people making fair criticism and all the rest of it… However I do think people need to reign some of the bullshit in …

We’re all supposed to be fighting for the same cause and yet SS has had to contend with idiots causing the Club to be fined and sanctioned (loss of revenue that could go towards the playing budget) as well as players and managers being targeted on Social Media…

It’s not all one way traffic …

Totally agree Bifster, you can come with me if I get the call 😀😀

I was in the old club club shop once, shit rainy day, and King Billy Ayre was there. He invited me into the back office for a cup of the worst tea ever and to explain how he was going to keep us up that season. He had plans to run the lads multiple laps up to the top of Beacon Fell and when they finished he would tell them they ran it as a group, there were no winners within the group, and the only important thing was to see them all commit to the job, and finish the job as a group. No egos, stick to the plan, work hard and you will come out winners in the end thanks to your own natural ability as a footballer.

I left thinking he was the best manager ever. He stared at me the whole time he was saying it. You could tell he was a formidable leader of men.

We need more of that and less phooking dossiers and consultants and non-job advisors.

Just been watching his interview on the BBC news, doesn’t look like he’s going in there to mess about does he?
