Result and a half that!

I’ll be surprised, I think Yates up on his own makes us stronger in midfield. Unless of course injuries dictate.

Yeah, removing the target man in Simms has stopped us hoofing it as much and with Yates/Kaikai/Embleton busy and milling around in the final third we've played some great stuff and looked more of a threat going forward.

Just the small matter of the eight games in April now, but hopefully with players returning and this momentum we can keep the run going. UTMP

I think that is a good point, we are playing a different style and speed. Still need him, though, to be able to mix it up. We may be dubbed if Jerry is suspended / crocked. though.
We are playing a different style and Jerry was magnificent again tonight, but we have missed GM to put himself about with the big defenders, and goals of course.

But where do you drop a player out to make up for him? Our fluid midfield scares the crap out of the opposition, there is always someone there and the defence get at least one shielding them.

All the plaudits as usual when we win.
I notice a few quotes repeated that actually came from Big Ben during the game.
That aside that was a great team performance and from the looks of it the players are really getting to know each other. A couple of silly mistakes at the back but hey, we are Division 1, not Premier League (yet)
All credit to Critchley, Calderwood and all the backroom staff.

I wouldn't Moss as I've just said on another thread, making changes to accommodate returning injured players could upset the balance and they should only return when 100% fit and when necessary. Thorniley has been outstanding but I wouldn't change him for the Viking or Marv at this stage, its a case of who plays along side him at the moment.

players back to fitness can only strengthen our bench so all good. If we can get results like this without quite a few first team players, it shows what a squad we have and how they all know their roles when needed to slot in.

Madine still has a big part to play, when he's back fit. Keeping the team unpredictable is what I've said we should be doing all season, perhaps we're unpredictable through no fault of our own right now, who knows, but it's paying off!

Madine and Simms could both still play a part.
Neither of them offer what Yates does because the guy is relentless in his approach to the game.
Madine doesn't have that in his locker, he isn't that type of player, but Simms could learn a lot from him.

It's often the way in football that through adversity a new team evolves. We have a team and formation which is delivering both performance and outcome. I cant see Madine fitting into this. He's a plan B when we're already winning and need Jerry to come off to avoid injury. And CJ would have to work very hard to slot in but could be a tremendous impact option. Sweet isn't it?!

I'd have bit your hand off for a draw pre-match. Every other team in and around the play-offs will have just taken notice. The POOL HAVE ARRIVED.

COOOOOMMMEEEEE OOOONNNNN YOUUUUUUU POOOOOOooOOOOOOLLLLL!
Must confess at half time I’d have taken the draw - how wrong I was - I thought they would fly out of the traps second half but if anything they were even worse than the first half!!

None of us ever pick the team Critchley does and we're constantly watching what's going on . What must opposition scouts and managers think? How can you plan to play against us?
With the quality of players we have in attacking positions (we always had them, they were just being criminally under utilised) we must now be a nightmare to play against.
The speed and movement of Kaikai, Embleton, Mitchell/Ward/CJ & Yates is looking unplayable at times.
And it should only get better.

It is a shame it took so long for the players to be free of their shackles, at times they've looked absolutely clueless due to the rigidity they were being forced to play under, but we can only look forward with immense optimism now.

It begs the question... Will Gary Goals get back in the side once he's fit?
The way we’ve played in the last 2 1/2 games probably wouldn’t suit his natural game. But as I’m a believer of mixing things up to keep the opposition guessing I really think he has a part to play (if he ever gets his injury problem resolved) from our POV a strong bench will only encourage those in the team to perform at their highest level & also give us viable options should things not go our way.

Still think we need bodies back, the same 12 or 13 players can't play at that tempo twice a week, to the end of the season. Gonna hit the wall sooner or later.

Incredible result when you look at the list of players out, how many starters from Husband, Ekpiteta, Ballard, Stewart, Virtue, Anderson, CJ and Madine?
Still plenty of games to go and I'm sure there will be bumps along the way but it's hard to argue against our form at the moment. I'm not sure that Embleton will be able to play against his parent club so we are going to need an alternative for those games.

Bodies back will be a bonus without doubt. But belief, confidence & adrenaline plus the winning mentality will get that little bit extra out of exhausted players.
