Rishi Sunak

An infotech company that provides management consultancy, information technology and outsourcing services.
Who needs an NHS when we could have Infosys?

I wonder who tipped off the Guardian in the first place?

On an entirely different topic - who are the people who are likely to replace Johnson as Tory Leader/PM?

What I don’t get here is why not declare it - the whole business world (and many others) knew about the family connections.

Seems to me a left wing stir on someone in politics who comes across as decent!!!!

The fact the guy put all his own stuff in a blind trust says quite a lot for me.

😂 This hasn’t come from the left wing.

Leading Tories are jockeying for position in the Boris Replacement Stakes.

Which you’ve been telling us about for some time.

Can't for a minute imagine any of his own side would try to hole Project Rishi below the waterline. It's a dirty business all right this politics malarkey! 😬 🤣

More likely to be leaked by a rival than a leftie?
Where was Gove?
I wondered who’d use the G word first.

Equally it’s entirely possible the story has been released by J (winky winky) on the basis that, if he does go it’ll be at a time of his choosing and he’ll choose the successor.

Besides which some people just like to use and enjoy the power they have. Regardless of the consequences.

Crikey Chaps!!! What Larks!!!

Probably the fact it was in the Guardian made me draw that conclusion - in fairness it’s 3.00am here, the wines out and the cricket is on the TV 👍

It could be anyone who has started this BUT going back to the point, this is not secretive information or been hidden - it’s open knowledge about his family.

Maybe we are looking at another night of the long knives shortly 🤔

Gove, in the drawing room, with the lead piping. You heard it here first mate 👍 🤣

So if it's open knowledge, it's very foolish not to declare it, as you end up looking like you've deliberately withheld the information.

Blackpool has a history with Tory regicide. The Tory conference of 1963 saw Quentin Hogg face off against RAB Butler for the leadership after MacMillan has announced his immediate resignation as PM on health grounds. Both men were on the appeasement side of the Party pre-war and Butler made a poor conference speech. In the end, Alec Douglas-Home said he would stand and was appointed Party Leader and, hence, PM. This was an idiotic appointment by the Tory grandees when Labour had just appointed Wilson as the modernising man to lead their Party.
And the in-fighting all took place in the Imperial hotel.

It might sound alien to some people but I'm not remotely materialistic. What is the point of having 1 billion in the bank??? I watched a documentary on Indian slums and it got progressively more horrific and ended with the worst slum, familes living on a toxic dump. A family lived in a tent without any power or water and I thought the women was in her 70s it turned our she was in her 30s. Children younger than 10 scavenged on this dump for a daily pittance, scraping bare hand through carcinogenic material. I don't know how the uber rich sleep at night, does anyone need more than £1m in a lifetime?. I couldn't look myself in the mirror and would prefer to help people in society rather than get myself into a position of power. I've got to wonder what mentality that takes and for what motives?

......again, in the drawing room, with the lead piping. Imagine if those walls could talk? I wonder what other moments that changed our course were born in smoke filled rooms, bars and hotel bedrooms in Blackpool?.....

Odd story this. Everyone knows that Sunak's family are involved with these companies and there is apparently nothing shady about them. Someone online mentioned how Infosys recently committed to stand by their 35,000 offers to graduates and guaranteed everyone's job for 24 months regardless of what happens to the world economy during the pandemic. So, if his family's wealth is common knowledge, why is it not correctly recorded? It's not the sort of thing you can hide after all.

I always think there’s a maximum amount of money you could possibly need or even enjoy, but I’ve never had any so maybe that’s easy for me to say 🤔
I’d like to think I’d give a hell of a lot of it away if by accident I found myself incredibly rich, and it would be a bloody accident because I’m not motivated by money enough to ever make it happen on purpose!
Maybe I’m kidding myself and greed becomes addictive and I wouldn’t be half as philanthropic as I think.

I'm sure you'd be a philanthropist. If you were given a pound a second it would take 12 days to be a millionaire and 32 years to be a billionaire. A billion is an eye watering sum, for a family to own 1.7bn is disgusting when there are people living in abject poverty.

Genuine question - in your opinion - what is financially rich and why?

Isn't it always the case that you spend to your income, so the more you have, the more you need to get by.

"The Treasury said all the proper procedures for declaring interests had been followed, and that decisions about what to declare were not taken by ministers themselves but by civil servants and independent advisers."

That’s too hard to answer really and I’m not trying to be awkward. I’vbeen on the bones of my derrière financially when bringing my girls up alone. I’m not complaining as I chose to have my childrenand have always felt strongly about the ethical responsibility of supporting them and myself. But I’m talking about having one pair of shoes to last me all year when I was particularly strapped and only enough money for 2 hours of heating a day in winter. My girls have never ever gone without anything though.
To the poorest nations that Shandy mentions that’s rich.
Now I’m past that stage and the kids have flown the nest a couple of short breaks a year and having cash to do my house up and to not worry about bills and to be able to have the odd treat feels like I’m a millionaire 😃
It’s all very relative to the individual isn’t it.
I just can’t answer your question, but if I stumbled across Rishi’s kind of money I’d be giving a lot away

I feel quite rich. I'm now mortgage free and have more than a six figure sum stashed in the bank plus a fair bit in pensions. I don't spend it as I'm not into cars or other outward flashy things so it's my pension fund (I'm 51) these figures pale into complete insignificance compared to the wealth of Sunak. It's not even small change down the back of a sofa. What worries me are his motives, he clearly isn't a philanthropist why has he gone to the trouble of doing the 2nd most powerful job in the country and quite possibly heading to the top job. He's certainly not doing it help the north or people on the breadline, so with all that massive wealth why is he doing it ?

That’s another difficult one to answer without knowing the man personally.
I doubt any MP at that level is doing the job for the money. It isn’t a massive salary for the responsibility and acumen required.
As I was once told ‘everyone needs a self-esteem boost’ Where you get that on a personal level varies massively. Getting it through your work is reasonably common as is say running a marathon or creating a lovely garden.
He’s obviously an intelligent guy, no matter what you think of his politics. I can’t diss anyone for wanting to use their brain and work. despite what they already have in the bank.
If it’s for ego then it’s the wrong choice of profession in my opinion, because most high profile politicians have that crushed with the passing of time.
He genuinely may believe he can do some good as an MP. I don’t dispute he feels that.
But why he does it is probably a separate issue to what he is already worth on paper.

India is suffering big time with Covid as well. Its incredibly sad & gives you an insight into how had some poor people have it as we sit in the west,
The thing is in recent years their has been a lot of money washing around in India but its obviously not helping those at the bottom.

I will say as i always have the population expansion is not sustainable and creating millions of more mouths to feed year on year has consequences.
