Rob Apter

He’s a player and he has the right attitude, chases lost causes and doesn’t give up, great with the ball as well he’s ready to play league one football this year, sonny carey should be good this season too. Really not sure on beesley and dale think we need better.
Beesley showed glimpses. I think he'll come good. If I have one small worry it's that I'd like Kenny Dougal to get these wayward passes out of his system before the real business starts.

Dougall has been a bit of a nightmare for a while now giving silly balls away. Not overly bothered as he won’t start if we have a fully fit squad.

I was thinking all game what others are saying about Dougall. He seems to have lost a yard everywhere and doesn't look up for it? It took me a few minutes to put a name to that enormous unit in the 2ndhalf,Tharme? is it. Big lad !! a few mistakes but came good towards the end

For me Tharme needs some time out on loan in League 2 before he's ready. The same for Lanksheer (sp?) but I still saw potential in both of them.

Tharme's just done a season in L1 with Accy, if he's not ready after that, what good is another season on loan in L2 going to do?
I wouldn't loan anyone out to a competitor in the same league as us. So, because I don't think he's ready for us, I'd like to see him go out on loan again.

Someone told me on here last week that Dougal is a championship player so essentially playing beneath the level he should be at.

Never really works out over a season like that does it?
So we don't really know if KD gets a load of games or not but he's certainly good enough for Lg1.
I’m sure he will get game time but I’ll be amazed if he is an automatic starter. The one thing I will give Dougal is at least he is always available to play and doesn’t shy away and gain cult status on here.

That lower end League 2 outfit finished 8th last season and we're bouncing with confidence this pre-season. Far better that we beat them handsomely than looking...err, lost.
Think we beat them twice with 2 different teams.
The squad has real potential and we could actually be OK without any loans
We certainly do not need to go cap in hand to Prem sides begging them to allow us the privilege of bringing on their development or youth players. Only ones I would be interested in would be a loan with option to buy at an agreed fee

It's difficult this season because although I'd love to see multiple players given a real chance to show how good they are, it still a tough league and we need to be at our best to have a chance at promotion. Apter is one of the players I really want to be given a chance, but not at the expense of results.

From what I saw today he's ready for the step up. He used the space well, thought about where to put the ball and did not shy away from any

On the basis of 45 minutes in a friendly against a lower end L2 outfit?
Yes. On and off the ball they had authority and leadership qualities. Something we badly missed last season.

My only slight concern is that we are two weeks from the start of the season, and nobody's played 90 minutes yet.

Critch does know he cant put a new team out after half time, doesn't he?

Listen to his interview after the game he clearly said he now needs to get 90 into his team starting at Morecambe as I'd expect fairly close to the starting 11 for the Hibs game then make subs second half.

I'd suggest those qualities are easier to display in a pre-season friendly against a L2 outfit, than in a Championship game.
I get your point about the opposition. But I’m comparing them to another player in the same colour shirt. They both had authority, looked in command & didn’t ever seem rushed on the ball. In my opinion they showed far more overall maturity & quality than KD did in this match or has done in the past. Did you watch the game? If so, which midfield would you pick based on the performance?
Edit to add: Don’t mean to be punchy with those questions. Interested to know who you’d pick either way. ✌️

I've no idea, I'm just saying let's not place too much weight on what is little more than a training session.

He's 23. He's done league 1. Pointless loaning him out. We need to embrace him and give him the chance someone such as Ekpiteta had to make mistakes and learn.
23?! Age is a strange thing in football nowadays. To me, 23 is getting to that age where actually if you were going to peak you would have done and am not sure how you improve from there. Very few footballers show 'more potential' after that age.

Marv was 24 in his first season with us. He definitely improved from the player who signed for us to the player who looked absolutely outstanding in that first championship season.

I think I'm sort of agreeing tbh - i.e. that if he's actually fundamentally any good, then really, he needs the chance to show it - and if he isn't, he needs to move on and as you say, loaning out 23 year olds on the basis of 'potential' seems weird.

I watched him closely when he game on at Norwich and I thought he looked really good on the ball

Maybe should have a go from the bench or a decent loan to prove himself

I'm guessing that if we don't play with wingers this season it will be harder for him to have a chance though

Like the look of him, looks a baller 👌

Yes it’s very difficult isn’t it because a lot of players need to get to 22 or so before they are strong enough to be able to cope with the physicality of today’s game.
That leaves a pretty narrow window to be fit, getting game time and playing well enough to secure a future in the game and not end up on the football scrap heap.

Thought he said after Wolves he’d be stepping up the time on the field

If he starts in say 12 games, who will have been the last Blackpool youth player to have achieved that? Would we have to go as far back as Matty Blinkhorn?

Loved Matty Blinkhorn, I got way too excited about him and really though he was gonna be like Omerod 😂

Shame we didn't get to see him last night - would have been a welcome addition. Gutted also we didn't get the chance to see Trybull who has caught the eye.
