Robert Jenrick

His backers aren't happy about ruling out the withdrawal from the ECHR.

Would be brought in under the guise of controlling immigration but then used for all kinds of reduction in civil liberties.

Sunak has drawn a line in the sand here. Be interesting to see how it plays out.

As I understand it any tampering with our relationship with the EHCR threatens the Good Friday agreement in Northern Ireland, so on that basis alone, if correct, I would say well done Rishi Sunak for at least drawing the line there, and good riddance to Jenrick.

Especially when he's a Housing Minister and can rush through your application so you don't have to pay the levy that's being introduced soon.

But no corruption, oh no. Pure coincidence that a large donation went into the Party coffers shortly after the approval.
But he’s not even that good at corruption. The developer saved £45m (which would otherwise have come to the taxpayer) but only donated £12k to the Tory Party. Very poor return if you ask me.

Lost will probably claim that’s evidence that there was no corruption. Or produce a graph, or a legal case from 1845 about the corn laws, which prove categorically that it’s impossible for Tories to be corrupt. And that it was all down to a civil servant.

My theory is that the Tories don’t want to win the election and are on self destruct and are saying to Starmer &co see if you can do better.

If only they were that co-ordinated they could call an election now. No, they will split into factions and snipe at each other instead of offering a constructive Opposition.

Another £100m just announced for Rwanda.

That’s on top of the £140m previously announced.

Add to that the £15m announced for lawyers to go to Luanda to deal with the transition of immigrants.

That’s over a quarter of a billion and still not one immigrant sent. 😮😤

No wonder Jenrick resigned.

Have they heard of the phrase throwing good money after bad?

An idiotic policy right from the off but they keep on with it. Wonder who's profiting this time?

Meanwhile Suella has the barefaced cheek to say the policies on immigration are failing and will continue to do so. Remind me who was in charge until very recently, pursuing this exact policy?

Add to that the £50 odd million we paid France (think we’ve paid it twice?) to help control the rubber boat crisis.
It’s certainly a Government of handouts you can’t complain about that. 😡

Sending money to Luanda now ? On top of all that money to Rwanda.

“A Home Office spokesperson would not go into specifics on what the money would be spent on but said it was going towards the economic development and growth of Rwanda.”

Well it’s really heartening that we’re spending UK taxpayers money to help Rwanda develop. In the meantime our own schoolchildren are being denied free school meals, we can’t afford the triple lock for pensioners and homeless people are dying on our streets in freezing temperatures.

Can you imagine the furore if a Labour government did this with taxpayers money.

Robert Jenrick stood down after it was revealed that the legislation did not allow the government to override the international laws that have stopped the government sending asylum seekers to central Africa.

His quitting had nothing to do with us sending money to Rwanda. Quite the opposite really. He wanted us to break international laws in order to send refugees there, no doubt at considerable further cost to us.

Breaking international conventions is what Brexit was all about. It will be working legislation next. Very slippery slope we're on at the moment.

I see that the additional £100m was signed off by Braverman.

I’m sure that her previous links to the Rwandan elite (which she initially failed to declare) have nothing whatsoever to do with this handout, and we can all sleep soundly in the knowledge that our government wouldn’t dream of using taxpayers’ money to feather their own nest.

Angola as well, Eh? Is Rwanda full already?

I noted yesterday that Rwanda is being described as a "deterrant". Quite a change from it previously being a "destination".

They just don't actually have a scooby doo what they are saying or doing.
