Roy Chubby Brown

Alternatively, best CB joke: Chubby’s wife, “Chubby I’m homesick, CB, This is yer fuckin home. Wife, I know I’m fuckin sick of it!

Honestly who cares if someone is a drug taking, wife cheating, abusive, sexist alcoholic(not CB) you either like the act or you don't .
I love my music I'm not interested if any of the band is off their knackers on Charlie sleeping with whores whilst having 3 kids.

You either like the comedian or not they sell tickets and if they don't they don't tour simples but to ban an act because of material is very a sticky wicket to go down.

That was kind of the point really…

If you think CB’s act is crude etc.., then him ‘apparently’ being a well mannered, well spoken (in fact one of the ‘best spoken’ people TTG has met 😂) etc.. really doesn’t make any difference either…

Met him a couple of times he's actually sound.

His act is of a time and outdated now, but if someone wants to buy his ticket who is anyone to critisize same as a old band from the past doing a tour.

As someone posted above if you want to be shocked go and see a Frankie Boyle gig where three quarters of the act is on peadophila he makes Chubby look like a Nun in comparison.
Frankie Boyle is also an offensive ex alcoholic but doesn't get frowned upon by the Guardianistas because his politics are to the left. Comedians should be allowed to be offensive regardless of politics, it's not hate speech, they're not inciting people.

The only comedians I think should be banned are Russell Howard and Rob Beckett, because they're ** shit.

Who on earth would want to sleep with a prostitute while they are giving birth to triplets 😯

I’d add John Bishop to that list 👍

Isn't the O/P asking why Sheffield should ban him?
Who cares the rest if he's crude or cheats on his wife etc.
Should Chubby not be allowed to work again and I say again that's a very sticky wicket to go down.

I don’t think he should be banned, but I also think that the management of any venue has the right to decide on what acts they put on.

Whether ‘Chubby’ works again or not is not really of any consequence really and I’m sure there will be plenty of venues willing to give him work.

Frankie’s act isn’t promoting paedophilia......exactly the opposite. I think he’s a genius

He says he didn’t on this interview.

A case of ‘well he would say that’ perhaps, who knows.

I’ve got no time for his act, never have had. Having read this thread, I watched this interview and I thought he came across well, fnrrrr, fnnrrr.

Suppose you’ll want him banned

Oh I forgot the one comedian who should absolutely be banned, Denis Leary..

"I have a scoop for you. I stole his [Leary's] act. I camouflaged it with punchlines, and, to really throw people off, I did it before he did." - Bill Hicks.

Fuck me there’s some absolute ** drips on here. Clearly a sense of humour is dead with the woke. I pity you.
Where?

Not one single person on this thread thinks RCB should be banned, you're just making stuff up and attaching 'woke' to it.

Davidson has made an absolute Hampton of himself on a few occasions, but he was a popular snd funny comedian in his day. You can’t really judge him by today’s standards I suppose.

A probably well meaning but misguided councillor has just given RCB a big marketing boost. As a comedian hes pretty much irrelevant to most people, i think generally most people look for something in their comedy, its not even that edgy anymore unless saying the word c++t repeatedly is considered edgy. Jimmy Carr, or the aforementioned Frankie Boyle or Ricky Gervaise are all way further into offensive territory (if you want to take offence).

Sheffield council bans it, then the likes of GB news takes it up and the mail and various other right leaning "news" papers build on it, the Grauniad will attempt to do an actual balanced news piece but forget to actually deal with any of the issues: then we'll get various cretinous politicians on both sides of the equation try to make some political capital and obviously get their faces on TV.

turns into another complete media circus, and RCB has a national sell out.

It's 'Frankie Goes To Hollywood' all over again.......Ban it....and everyone wants it......

CHUBBY BROWN......So Outrageous, they tried to ban him....Tickets £25 £35 each...

Shall I put The Bifster down for 2...?

Attitudes have changed with the passage of time. Forty years ago I found his form of comedy near the knuckle but I watched and laughed with the rest. Today it leaves me sad thinking that I ever did that.

No thanks … I’m busy watching repeats of “Celebrity, Vegan, Naked, Jungle Factor” that weekend 👍

Each to their own, too much PC, if you dont like, don't go and watch.

Too many people get tickets just so they can just complain.

He's popular with some people and can still sell out theatre's so let the man make a living.

Comedy and telling joke's aren't allowed anymore.

I thought BM , RCB JD etc were cringeworthy at the time, as well as billy connelly who just shouted a lot and took forever to get to a rubbish punchline…
Phil cool was god awful, like now we have the awful equivalent in michael McIntyre and John bishop….🤣rant over…

But that's the way things are going, ain't it? In these easily offended times.

Depends which way the wind is blowing plenty of famous people have been caught being naughty(drugs, cheating, alcoholics etc) yet are lauded whilst others are hung out to dry.

Couldn't agree more seasider.

Somebody mentioned that Chubby Brown had been caught cheating on this very thread.

Not a problem with anybody mentioning that and not doubting it either but I questioned David Beckham's father of the year award after he had cheated on his wife with Rebecca Loos and many on here slaughtered me for doing so - questioning Beckham's father of the award, I was not sticking it up Rebecca Loos.

There seems to be a fairly common theme developing here…

“If you don’t like it don’t watch it” and I think that’s fair enough….

So why the. Is…

“If you don’t like it, don’t support it at your venue” such a big issue….?

Because some at Sheffield council have taken a moral stance after a few complaints and they cancel the show Blackpool Council have already been fined for the Franklin Graham farce they shouldn't get involved it's between the Theatre and it's promoters.

These idiots couldn't run a bath yet they've got involved,(trying to put concerts on the prom utter 🔔Ends) what every time someone emails a bloody council in the UK they don't like XYZ they stop it no fuckin thanks.

I thought you'd be dead set against that type of dictating but hey ho.

I think the Franklin Graham thing was a human rights issue “Freedom of Religion” etc..?

In the case of Sheffield, it’s the City Hall and so I’d have thought that they ought to be free to decide who they want to book as an act and who they don’t.

I’m not sure why it’s such a big deal really… I’d imagine venues make these types of decisions all the time.

Maybe they should have just said “We’ve decided to cancel him cause he’s shit” 👍

Needs the swearing to get anything close to a laugh. Mind you, his audience is usually pissed up enough to laugh at owt.

Swearing is not big and it's not clever but to be fair to Royston, he wouldn't be the only comedian who swears and I think it's fair to say that swearing can be applied effectively to improve a joke.

I’m not rowing TTG, I’m simply expressing a perspective. I think he’s full of shit mate, that’s all.

It is an act, you’re right (probably the most profane act in the U.K.), which makes his whole fake morality (in real life) all the more nauseating.
Quite. Just as Alf Garnett was an act, but millions took his racist, sexist persona at face value.

Same with Chubby. Those laughing along aren't thinking what a well mannered bloke he is off stage, they're loving the abusive character.

True enough, used to bang a cassette of his on when we had the bar early 80’s in Magalluf packed full of Geordies, they loved him obvs, but so did our till! 😆

I’m far from a prude but the guy is vulgar 😠
He is no more vulgar than many things you hear on tv these days. It appears you can’t be funny unless every other word is an expletive, even in everyday programs, even creeping into ads eg. Green Flag.

I understand the issue with cancel culture and silencing views, all of which I'm against in general... but this guy is an absolute w*nker and his humour is ancient history.

According to you. My Dad thought he was fantastic entertainment. I took him 4 times over the years to Preston Guildhall, Winter Gardens, Lowther Pavilion and the Grand Theatre. Dad had vascular dementia (and past away before NAPM finished) but it was worth every minute to see him laughing. And I quite enjoyed the show myself 😜

I got to know the off stage Roy, his stage persona is what it is, but it’s just an act.
He‘s one of the most well spoken person I’ve ever met.
Plus when off stage, woe betide anyone who swore in front of a lady.🤪
I met him in Louth where he lives. I agree that he s totally different in real life. I told him I was from Blackpool and we had a laugh about his times over here. Lovely bloke.

Surely the punter should be able to choose if he wants to buy a ticket and watch his show not some woke local authority.

Nah…

The venue should be free to book or cancel whoever they like, without all this fuss. It’s a total storm in a teacup.

There’s plenty of alternative venues serving up shit comedy - The punters won’t miss out.👍
