Rugby lot miss us

How detrimental is this event to the pitch? If it doesn't matter, it's a decent idea to get a bit of extra income during the off season

Does it also have to be held on a set date, if they were to put off renewing the pitch until after it, would it actually affect anything?

Tbh the pitch has been getting better and better, so if it is detrimental than fair enough.

But if there is a way to get it in then go for it.

I read at least six weeks after renewing the pitch, so the event was on 27-28th May.

That means it could be renewed after it and back in business for mid July. Just in time for a few big home games friendlies.

Also this isn't the average lawn, so it may be quicker with the things they're doing.

Seems doable but maybe @groundsman will know more.

Paul Flynn started pitch work 15th May this year so this is 2 weeks after. 3weeks on they will have cut and fed the new pitch. I doubt it will have too much detriment however 2 weeks over a 10 week period is 20% so Paul will have to hope for usual good growing weather. Accelerate the roots and shots growth with a high P&K fertiliser then go onto a slower release for the remaining 5 week growth before the first league game. It may also mean that a home friendly maybe out of the equation. Plenty if clubs do not rip up until later May. Morecambe did and their pitch will be OK for start of August.

Are we needing to replace the playing surface at the end of every season?

No surprise York is bloody expensive on a bank holiday weekend and a bit of a faff to get to.
Blackpool total opposite.

I don't want concerts back so half and half with this great for the town as the 15k will be majority incoming unlike a music act so good for the town but don't want it at the expense of the pitch just get a Glasgow team every year if you we want to bring funds in unless the groundsman is happy with a few weeks delay.

If we aren't going for concerts this could be the alternative way of bringing good money in. At least the egg chasers won't trash the place like the jocks

Does the summer bash have to be late May?

If it was late June or early July the new pitch would be in top condition.

The question would be would we want it played on with rugby? Tbh at that time of year it would likely receiver in no time.

If it's just not right then ahh well, we can't do it and just generate income another way and concentrate on the pitch being top notch.

They have it on a bank holiday I presume to maximize the event,it all seems a bit crap for me only getting over 7k all day with 3/4 games on.

I would think hosting this would go down well with the council and our work with them can only be beneficial so I’m in favour .
