I was quietly optimistic about this lad when we signed him. Decent goal and assist record last year in ths league. But he looks slow, overweight and unfit. I'm not sure what his position is either. He's been disappointing.

Don't want to be too negative after today though. Great result. Now onto Wigan.

I think with the players who'll be returning and those who played yesterday, it's hard to see he'll get a start anytime soon bar the EFL Trophy. Not done anywhere near enough to get himself a first team place.
 
He's been injured so that may explain his struggle to get fit and perform to his potential.
 
Don’t like to slate players based on the small amount of time I’ve seen him on the pitch - all I will say is he was a shadow of Jerry Yates when he came on.

Jerry Yates has played 12 consecutive games without injury and scored at the 12th attempt.

I have defended thr manager and certain players when they have received pelters on here. It certainly isn't my protocol to write players off. I just don't know what Sarkic brings to the team to be honest.

Nothing yet, he's been injured and played brief cameos. He had a good season in League one last season and is only 22 ish. Needs a run of fitness and form.
 
Sarkic is a good player has been stop-start due to injury but I think he will come more into the picture as the season progresses. I view him as a GTF type player not an out and out striker but not a midfield player either.
 
I don't want to write the lad off and would be more than happy to be proved wrong. Maybe I'm more disappointed in him than others because I looked at his stats in this league last year and I was quite optimistic that he would be a key player for us. Hopefully he comes good 👍
 
In hindsight, I think our approach to signings was far too much of a scattergun one and one thing I would hope is that by January we will know what’s working and what’s not and attempt to cut our cloth accordingly. Although we already have a bit too much excess even before then!
 
I think it’s natural to see it as a scattergun effect, when there physically hasn’t been enough time passed to see the best of half of the team. However there is more reason to believe that all of these players have been brought in for a reason and this will become clear later down the line. The ones who are not firing right now may just need more time, more coaching, and the right opportunity later on in the season to make a claim.

Sarkic for example, on his best form, is far better than we have seen him play so far. He’s not suddenly forgotten how to play football. Just needs time and, god forbid, patience from us.

I was hardly slaughtering him. Just stating that he seems to be unfit and slow. If he was injured when we signed him then how did he pass his medical? From the first friendly he played in he has seemed to be off the pace and out of shape.

I'm not writing him off and I certainly hope he comes good.

Spot on. Sarkic was head and shoulders best player on the pitch when we played at Burton two seasons ago.
 
BM signed Sarkic for Leeds.

He was signed for NC rather than NC signing him.

I think he's a good player and used in the right way could be good for us.

Will he be used in the right way, as NC didn't overtly want him, remains to be seen.

I've got no reason to doubt that, but it does highlight my issue with Mansford acting like a director of football

They've set up a transfer committee which I can understand, as it can stop constant player turn over as managers or head coaches rarely last 18 months.

Maybe it's just because we're novices at it currently, but it actually appears to be having the opposite effect.

Having said that I do think we've signed some talented players and with any transfer window there's a degree of the unknown, but I can see more players than on average being left out and then moved on in 12 months.
 
Logically should get a game in the cup next saturday, along with some of the other fringe players.

Give a chance to rest the everpresents like Turton (How will we cope without him)?

Yeah the committee of Mansford, Critchley and Johnson

Critchley should have the final say

I'm not convinced he does though
