Such a nostalgic song. I can still remember the thrill I got the first time I heard it, and exactly where I was and what I was doing !

There isn't and never was a NYPD Choir.
Fantastic song though, hope it reaches No.1 for Christmas.

But there is a NYPD bagpipe and drums band which adopts Irish culture and whose members in full Hibernian regalia, basically green tartan pseudo Scottish military uniforms and feathery headdress, were drafted in to pretend to be a choir and “sing” on the video.

The trouble was they had to be seen to “sing” in unison but by miming for the video, and not all of them knew the words to Galway Bay or any other Irish songs. So they mimed along to the Mickey Mouse song… M-I-C-K-E-Y-M-O-U-S-E… as used at the end of the film Full Metal Jacket.
