Scott Banks

They have offered him a large wage to stay just so they can sell him for more at the end of the season. Up to the player

The transfer so far have been fairly easy, a couple of good frees, Peterborough wanted to cash in on Norburn, Joseph was linked to Yates.

Now we're into the harder area of contested transfers, where the club doesn't want to sell, there might be other interest, these sorts of transfers always take a lot longer and frequently only complete just before deadline day.
Exactly this 👍

Patience is needed, if the lad wants the move it'll happen. If not, we move on and are better without him. We only want players 100% committed.
If he turns out to be good I don’t think we’ll be better off without him.
Can’t help but think another offers come on the table for him.

I’ve got a feeling we were never in for him. Nixon’s spiel of ‘there’s a championship club sniffing’ stinks of an agent trying to drum up interest.

We’ve really missed a gazette reporter this summer. It’s been painful

Agree
Even The Gazette have used “According to journalist Alan Nixon” when referring to a player we are supposed to be interested in.
says it all.

why ??? Matt Scrafton never broke 1 single exclusive. The Gazette is dead. Won’t be here in 5 years.

I think the club are trying there hardest to bring these type of players in. You do get the impression there are so many people who want a slice of the cake. I'm sure many clauses are written into a given deal. A pal of mine who had been dealing with the club was told players wanted a moving allowance, new fridge cooker when signing for rhe club etc etc that was 50yrs ago !

I did wonder whether we might be stalling because of Moxon. I feel like Carlisle went too balls deep in their statements to let him go now though.

I did also wonder if we have signed Banks and we just want to stall announcement. Bit of a wild card for Saturday. Far fetched maybe.

Or, the club despise Nixon so much after the Critch story they pulled the plug to save giving him an ‘aye’

I listened to a podcast with Ben Foster on it and he said that every player gets a moving fee to help them relocate and that clubs have to find accommodation until they're able to find their own. Wish my job was that generous

We're good at identifying players who will improve the team/squad, and at agreeing terms with the clubs. Our problems start when other clubs want these same players. Once we start talking personal terms with the player, unfortunately, they tend not to chose Blackpool. I've long since had the idea that managers of some wealthier clubs wait until Blackpool start negotiating with players, reckon that player will benefit their club, then step in and offer better terms.

Genuine question:

How many players have we signed after the news has been leaked days before, if not weeks?
From memory, especially recently, by the time the news has leaked the deal is as good as done.
Very rarely it seems have we ever signed anyone more than a few hours after the cat is out of the bag.

If it is the agents or the clubs themselves releasing the news in order to bump up the price, I don't really see any fault from our side in not getting the deal over the line.
We knew about Yates and Hardie weeks before they signed
