Scott Bent-One, the MP for Ladbrokes, William Hill and Bet365 (oh and Blackpool South) wrote on social media this week that his constituents are 'sick and tired' of seeing images of immigrants crossing the channel in dinghies.

He later said the top priority for the next prime minister should be supporting families hit by rising costs of living.

Mixed messages?

He's implying that the cost of living crisis is caused by immigrants crossing the Channel.

Utter rubbish but lapped up by the hard of thinking.

PS Record numbers crossing the Channel. After 12 years in power you'd think the incompetents in charge might have done something about it.

There again, promising to do something after the next election and blaming the French plays well with a certain demographic

I just assume when he opens his mouth he talks sh@@. Am I missing something or I assume he ain’t a full shilling?
 
I assumed the title of the op referred to Benton still claiming his councillor's allowance way after he became MP for Bpool S and his willingness to accept favours from the gambling industry as long as he continues to promote them. If it was because of his sexuality then the op needs to give himself a slap and then change the title.
There are a host of reasons why Scott Benton is unsuitable for public office but his sexuality is not one of them.

Where did he imply that?

People are tired of seeing images of immigrants crossing the channel in dinghies. And the top priority for the next prime minister should be supporting families hit by rising costs of living. Hard to argue with that.

Implicitly linked by putting the two things in one sentence. Dog whistle politics. We're tired of a Home Office Secretary talking tough and doing nothing, while cutting the budget and freezing the pay of officials who are also hit by rising costs of living, partially caused through the increased costs caused by their own policies.

Nothing to do with Scott Benton though. Controlling immigration and subsidising fuel costs are way above his pay grade.
