Not sure what exactly has gone on here but sounds like he has been stung by a reporter for willing to take a bung.

Anyone cere to expand?
 
He's a lobbyist for the gambling industry, not a conscientious constituency MP. He represents a very poor constituency whose citizens are subjected to the miseries caused by gambling and he has broken Parliamentary rules in an attempt to buy favours for that industry. The people of Blackpool South should roundly condemn this two-faced, arrogant cheat and show him the red card.

I know he has his supporters on here with his BS about the airport

So let's just clear this up he offered to lobby on behalf of the gambling industry in order to line his own pockets. It is the conclusion of the standards committee and the Conservative party that he is self serving and corrupt - still think he is looking out for the people of Blackpool South ?
 
Benton on his failed appeal: "The entire process has been prone to regular leaks at every stage, with journalists knowing the details throughout'.

What got him into trouble: Mr Benton was secretly filmed by undercover reporters saying he could table parliamentary questions and leak a confidential policy paper.

Yet another amazing display of a lack of any self-awareness or integrity from a Tory MP

That's why Benton should do the honourable thing and resign. The alternative - a recall petition - takes time, all the while leaving the people of Blackpool South without Parliamentary representation.
 
Don’t get me started on this corrupt prick.
I pitched a tech solution several years ago on how to solve problem and banned gamblers from repeat offending in betting shops.
We ran a trial at William Hill across 6 locations and get awesome results. It was supposed to help those who wanted to be stopped from gambling from just going to the next store.

Despite him knowing of the pilot and the results and the solution he stood up in front of the entire gambling commission and said it didn’t exist and nothing could be done.

Reality is the betting shops make their greatest profit from the people we showed we could stop - and off record said unless Govt changed the law it would be commercial suicide to implement despite the social and financial benefits to society.

Benton got a piece of my mind and still said he couldn’t do anything about it.

Thanks for the updates people, it’s good ti keep a handle on my home town.

Sounds like another chump politician but wouldn’t mind hearing from anyone that thinks otherwise.

No not naive at all.

We had agreed all the prices and how to deploy but they were the ones who said they’d only do it when the Govt forced them to do it (most profit from problem gamblers so not in their interests commercially).

They paid for the trial and believed the govt were bringing a bill in and it would cost a fortune in staffing. We could do it for about 8% of the staffing cost.

Benton and the strong lobbying group quashed it completely.

Benton was a total fraud. Fake man of the people like so many of the government under Johnson. He didn't really understand most things just used to harp on about boats all the time as he knew it was popular with his base. Been found out now and won't be sorry to see him go. Chris Webb is at least local although he's a little too left for me but he's out and about doing the food bank runs even if its a little virtue signalling. Maynards in trouble as well

Give Chris Webb a chance. There are two parts to a GE: elect a party's candidate to improve the chances of that party winning the election and forming a Government, and elect a good constituency MP.
