Scott Benton recall petition

Some do. There's a need to show that taking bungs as a politician, especially from the gambling industry in one of the poorest constituencies nationally is simply beyond the pale.
From reading some comments on various Blackpool FB posts there's definitely some who aren't bothered and don't want the wasted money when there could be another election soon anyway.

It'll be interesting to see if people turn out for this, Labour clearly trying to whip people up and would be a bad failure if they can't get the required signatures.

I agree.

Why waste money prosecuting criminals?

Worse still, why waste money on prisons?

Close them all down and let everyone out.

Just think of the savings. Kerching!!!!

I’m not being daft, the country is a free for all unless it’s tax evasion or maybe something that the FCA don’t approve of.
No, you're wrong. We need to hold politicians to account. Benton was elected because a very large number of people voted for him. He has let them down. He has let Parliament down and he has let the country down. His constituents need to turn.out to show their disapproval.

You make a good point but the truth is that people have bigger problems than Scott Benton.

I didn't say that. Is he a criminal, so the comparison isnt the same?

Maybe he deserves booting out or maybe it'll happen soon anyway saving money.

It depends if people care enough to bother signing, is all I said.

He's broken a number of parliamentary rules, which, while not criminal offences, are unworthy of the position he holds.

I don't disagree on that side, despite him actually making effort in the community and getting around, meeting people etc, which I believe was different to Marsden, or the perception.

The question is do people care enough to get out there and get rid of him.

Apathy from many could be a factor.

Taxpayers foot SNP minister’s £2,500 chauffeur bill

Dear oh dear. First the SNP’s health secretary attempted to use the public purse to cover his phone bill costs. Now, in a separate matter, the Scottish government’s tourism and trade minister has come under fire for lumping a similarly large bill on taxpayers.

Richard Lochhead’s three-day trip to California resulted in a rather hefty expenses bill of £11,750. Responding to a freedom of information request, the Scottish government helpfully broke down how this money was spent. £8,000 plane tickets, £800 accommodation and just under £450 on extra ‘travel and subsistence’ costs illustrate a rather enjoyable stay. But the real zinger was the revelation that Lochhead racked up costs of £2,500 on ‘chauffeur car travel’. Alright for some!

The purpose of the visit was to ‘tap into the US space economy’ — though Lochhead reportedly spent just, er, 15 minutes delivering his speech on space. The Scottish government defended Lochhead’s trip to the Golden State, saying: ‘The trade minister undertook 17 engagements with industry experts…to discuss investment in Scotland.’. But Lochhead’s lavish LA jaunt was not received well by the CEO of Scotland’s own spaceport, Frank Strang, who seemed rather miffed by the whole thing. Strang fumed: ‘Lochhead’s office is 34 minutes from our office in Grantown-on-Spey, but we have never met him. He goes to LA and meets one of our clients, but he hasn’t been to our spaceport.’ Awkward…

It’s not the first time officials have demonstrated a relaxed approach to spending Scottish taxpayer’s cash. It emerged last year that, between 2019 and 2022, the public purse was regularly ransacked for swanky away days, where civil servants ran up costs of £33,000 playing laser tag, crazy golf and even made time for a trip to the Zoo. No wonder the Scottish government never gets anything done…

Sunak took £15,000 off Hester for a helicopter trip. He constantly takes private planes when public transport or even pool cars are available stinks.

That's exactly why these types of people get away with things like this & many seem to think it's ok. Get your arse down & do what we all know is the right thing. See you tomorrow at the Molyneux centre & as a bonus I'll introduce you to the dog ;)

Just got my vote through post 👍 I thought we would have to go in person to the place mentioned above so this makes it super easy.

With this option we must get this wanker out.. surely. Mines been posted already

Problem is, if no one does anything because we may or may not have a GE at some point this year (I think latest it can be is Jan?), its gives MP's license to say, well they won't kick me out and I'm losing my seat anyway... may as well line my pockets

Well I've cast my vote so to speak & there was a steady stream of people when I went. I don't think I saw No.9 though unless he is a woman 😂

scotland never pays. SNP

To paraphrase a significant Tory Donor in the news currently

“I think Scott Benton should just be taken out and shot”

Bit extreme I agree but it’d save a lot of money so our penny pinching right wing friends should be happy.

You missed the bit out that it makes you hate all Tory MP's. 😬
