Why not, sponsors get free tickets, he’s done nothing wrong, we’ll done Scott , not only are you the best MP Blackpool has ever had but you get the left all hot and bothered 🤣🇬🇧
 
Sad thing is a lot of people only care when it is an MP they don't vote for accepting low level bribes. I don't think any MP from any party should be accepting gifts like this.
The system is bent, too many MPs are bent, we need to smash it all up and go again with decent people from around the country with normal backgrounds representing the areas they come from.
We have barely moved on from when working class men got the vote!
 
Joking apart - i think it would be great for Blackpool to have a super casino and all the investment that goes with it.

Blackpool South is an area of high poverty. Betting shops do nothing to improve that. Indeed, they can be seen as part of the problem.

They have a mega casino here and it’s controlled properly.

Blackpool needs massive investment and apart from this I am not sure where we could get it from.

Casinos are not just about gambling but entertainment as a whole.

That’s right, he was holding down two jobs just to scrape a living as an MP and till recently a Councillor on Calderdale Council - no wonder the poor lad has to accept all these freebies, it must be embarrassing for him, no wonder he’s stopped going to the foodbank.

Thats the sort we need, working together with down to earth sensible left wing types to make things better for everyone. Just need to get rid of this countries obsession with Eton types and we might make some progress!!

6 other Tories and 2 Labour.
The difference between him and the others you mentioned is that they're not in a position to change the law.
He's on a sub committee on gambling. He's accepted these "gifts" and then made pronouncements in favour of a super casino; made a video on the benefits of high street bookmakers and asked 6 parliamentary questions to the DCMS on gambling. It may be completely innocent but it may appear to some that he's accepting tickets and hospitality in return for pushing their agenda. If he's not crossed the line, he certainly balancing on it.
 
He loves the publicity seemingly. He's also, in response to a point made on his Twitter account, fat shamed the person who sent him this:
"Scott gets a free ticket to the Euros from a gambling company and suddenly Blackpool needs a new casino priceless ! Greggs once gave me a free pasty so I’ve sold the town hall to the Great British Bake-off."

The response, which I would expect from a Year 7, from Mr Benton was:
"More than one free pasty I suspect by the looks of it".
All very amusing to some and then we find out that he is a member on the eating disorders All Party Parliamentary Group.
In mitigation he said: "He’s a Labour Party Councillor who frequently posts unwelcome and unpleasant comments on my social media pages."
That last bit I suspect is utter bollocks. I asked him a question on social media about his views on Divorce and he blocked me.
This may mean nothing to many people and I get that but he is sounding like a bit of a **....on a daily basis.

I'm not sure explaining the problem is going to help with some to be honest.

Anyway, he does come across as quite thin skinned.

It's fine now, when he was filmed outside a betting shop he wasn't actually promoting betting shops apparently.

For a man representing a community like South Blackpool with it's many issues he does just appear to use his platform to bang on about gambling, maybe that's why the betting companies were so grateful.

Tory boy never seems lost for words, at least on this side of the board. His appearances on the footballing side seem as rare as his, err, willingness to pay his own way 🤨😂

He’s flip flopped so much on the Covid thingy that I couldn’t decide whether he was anti or pro vax/lockdown/furlough/herd immunity/or what.

And then I realised he just posted whatever the PM had said that day and then it all made sense.
