Scrafters up to the minute on the announcement...

Almost like every single report of it being a done deal came from sources who actually had no clue about what was going on and were just using guess work.

I've said it once and will say it again; the only people on earth who know exactly what is going on are Sadler, Mansford, and a couple of other people on the board.

Scrafton has slightly contradicted himself though; he said on Monday that an announcement was likely in the middle of the week, but is now saying that a decision hasn't been made yet.

This reads to me like Rosenior may have pulled the plug. It’s highly unusual for everyone (including Matt) to be reporting that it was basically done on Monday to then backtrack like this.

it crossed my mind Gaz 😭

All those wetting themselves and claiming "it's a done deal" regarding Rosenior may be in for a torid few days.

This does not help BFC in any way, we need a new man in ASAP because the sooner someone tries to sort the mess that was happening on the pitch towards the end of last season the better.

I wonder if there has been a late development - Tam Courts left Dundee yesterday to ‘Pursue other opportunities’ which makes you think he has something lined up. Also other posters have said Sadler and Mansfield are out of the country till Friday. Seems odd both head honchos are away at the same time unless they are meeting a candidate? It’s all conjecture of course but If second interviews have been done we are in the final throws of it you would imagine. Patience is the key not panic - Sadler and Mansfield are both very astute at what they do and know exactly what they are doing to get the right man. If it takes a little longer - remember it’s less than 2 weeks since Critchley left and we were starting from scratch - then so be it, I’d much rather they take a few extra days to get the right man rather than rush into it and cock it up!

Agreed, would rather them take time then rush into anything. Ultimately we don't know anything and can only just trust that the board are doing their due diligence (which I think they are)

The poster who said Sadler and Mansford are away is lying their ass off, no chance in hell they'd be out of the country during such a pivotal moment.

It’s worth noting it took 18 days to appoint Critchley and we are on day 13 so don’t panic lol . Agreed I find it hard to believe both Sadler and Mansfield are away out of the country at the moment - any conversations with overseas candidates would be done via Zoom etc surely? Or, they would be told to come here.

Just think Scrafton's wording is very odd, saying that a "decision hasn't been made" makes it sound like we're still deliberating between who the best candidates are instead of just dotting "t's" and "crossing i's".

I guess all will be revealed soon!

I certainly wouldn’t put it past Mansford. He’s been known to turn his phone off at pivotal times to play a round of golf…

What a total overreaction.

Duff was appointed at Barnsley on Monday, so he didn't make it to the second round and there must be at least one other candidate whose name hasn't leaked yet, possibly more.

Sounds like LR isn't the done deal some think it is.

He names 3 people who he believes have had a second interview, LR, Duff and Appleton and then goes on to say Duff is on the verge of being appointed by Barnsley.

I suppose there could be further candidates he isn’t aware of.
I’m 100% sure there are

If we work on the presumption that Scrafton doesn’t know much, Nixon doesn’t and we’re just waiting on Ben Mansford trying to think of a nickname for Liam Rosenior then it’ll be sound.

I reckon he’ll go “R-Dog”.

Just to add, Appleton shouldn’t even be a candidate, but as BM was his agent it’s a moody one in my opinion.

He may have been Appleton’s agent but he’s now our CEO, is paid very well for being so and will be judged by what he does in this job. Seems the same smears about him ‘obviously’ going for Heckingbottom last time are being regurgitated with a new spin. I wonder why?

It’s not a smear is it, it’s a fair point.

If Michael Appleton wasn’t a previous client of Ben Mansford previously I don’t think he’d be interviewed based on his managerial performance in League 1 with Oxford and Lincoln and him previously managing here with a fairly decent squad which played shite football.

Just like if “Hecky” wasn’t a pal of BM from
Barnsley I don’t think he would’ve been considered last time. Granted he’s subsequently done well at Sheff Utd, but he was already in the Club to get the gig.

That’s how things work sometimes, not what you know it’s who.

Questioning the above isn’t a smear, it’s weird how people get so uppity at the new regime being dared to be questioned.
