I remember him taking control of the ball at Wembley to play out time and amazing he is still playing Premiership football at 35. He has played over 500 games for Everton but yesterday is one to forget as he chests the ball into his own net when Everton were hanging on to a point. It reminded me of Charlie Adam’s own goal header against Blackburn. So even the best players make mistakes. Best wishes to Seamus and thanks for a special contribution to the Pool !

I was in Brum (away) and needless to say we were approached (in the pub) by a scouser who told us we’d just signed him on loan. Reckoned we’d got a ‘gem’. A shock to find it was true.
