SEASIDERS FRIDAY PRE-MATCH DRINK FULHAM AWAY.

Any of you staying over on Friday.
A few Seasiders (Me,TAM,BadBing & Co) are meeting 6.45pm - 7.45pm for a drink at :

The Coach & Horses,
29 Greek
Street Soho
WID 5DH

It’s a cracking central location easy walking distance from both Tottenham Court Road & Oxford Circus Tube Srations

People may only want to pop for one drink and go for a pre-arranged meal or whatever but it would be good to meet for an earl beer and see where the night goes.

Hope to see lots there.

Good choice. One of my favourite pubs in Soho. The only slight reservation is that the tenants were kicked out and Fuller’s took it under management. A few regulars were a bit sniffy about it with loads of “end of an era” stuff. With lockdown I haven’t been in since so can’t comment but they’d be daft to destroy a winning formula. Had some great nights in there.

If that doesn’t work The Three Greyhounds is next door which Blackpool Rox may remember. And the Spice of Life. Not my favourite boozer by a long chalk but they do have music nights if that’s your thing.

A short walk away is the Dog and Duck on Bateman Street which is a cracking place if a bit small.

I’d also recommend the Blue Posts on Berwick Street. Be careful though as there are a few Blue Posts in Soho which aren’t very good. So just remember Berwick Street.

Just up from there is the Star and Garter on Poland Street which I’d definitely recommend.

And finally at the Piccadilly Circus end of Soho is the Lyric on Great Windmill Street. Be careful though as it’s opposite the lap dancing club Windmills and you wouldn’t want to stumble in there by accident.

And China Town is close by for food.

It’s a fantastic part of London; very compact and you can walk from one end to the other in 15 minutes.

For those of us of a certain age and/or literary/racing/satirical tendencies, the C&H is well-known as the local/second home of the late-great Jeffrey Bernard, as portrayed by Peter O’Toole in ‘Jeffrey Bernard Is Unwell’, which was what ‘The Spectator’ used to to print in the regular absence of his column, when he was too p*ssed/hungover/errant to fulfill his journalistic obligations….

Great choice. I am a regular there. Underwent a very sympathetic renovation, kept the vibe but the chairs don't have holes in them now.

Usually it would be rammed at that time on a Friday but in the strange new world all the pubs are less busy.

The Blue Posts (Berwick St!) is a cracker too. As is the French House (too small though).

The only problem with the French House is the fact it serves mainly wine!

And a large woman in stilettos once stood on my foot.

That boozers got a secret Tea Room according to the pictures on Google. I wonder what you get in there that's so secret.

Oi Mosser, I've just had a flashback to our trip to Soho after Fulham in 1999. We paid £15 into an establishment that entitled us to two free drinks and to be able to stay as long as we wanted. The free drinks turned out to be halves, and the staff 'working' that night were mostly bag heads. We didn't stay long, and it worked out at £7.50 per half a pint. We didn't look for a refund though. Sensible move 🤪

My only trip to Fulham involved Earl Grey Tea and a vegetarian picnic pre match alongside my friend( still) and his then partner from the boot of their car.
We unfortunately came away with nothing though said friend to this day suggests my attitude to the ref and their fans was far from pleasant…as if I would.
Anyway those going have a great day( and night before before the sounds of things for some ) and who knows we might surprise them again. Here’s hoping.

I don’t remember us being able to stay as long as we wanted either……. Weren’t we thrown out after 30 minutes 🤔😂

Cheers Lads for all the good wishes,

Been doing a bit of pre-registration in Tory Corner, looks like a lot of the PLFS Boat Cruise will be there 🧡🚌🚢🧡🍊🍊

Oh by the way I can’t take any credit whatsoever for the choice of pub.

My eldest Lad who worked in London for about eight years recommended it. 👍👍🚌🚢🧡🍊

Look irward to seeing your “Crewe” Tigger.
I’ll be there around 7.15.
TAM will be there for 6.45 if not before🤣🤣

Shit beer in there if you drink bitter. Some interesting characters around that neck of the woods though. Every time I’ve been there some memorable person makes an appearance. Last time I was in there was a sing song going on the piano. Lots of talented folk from theatre land are regulars.
