Better in the league than some weird pat on the head trophy for little teams.Was it better to win in the league, and lose in the cup, or vice versa?
People have forgotten about Saturday but they'd have taken three points over the Mr Clutch cup all day long.

The low attendance last night suggests it was the 3 points that were more important to the fans.

Being on tv and on a weeknight probably knocked 1-2k off the crowd. A bit less than 6k home fans maybe. Considering the competition and what we get in league 1 games, it wasn't bad.

Funny how most wanted a win in the league and yet imploded when we lost in the cup. IF (massive IF!) we win on Saturday, I doubt in hindsight and with Wycombe the opponents if there'll be too many tears shed over our exit from a competition that most wanted nothing to do with at the start of the season.Was it better to win in the league, and lose in the cup, or vice versa?

I agree with that, it was just the manner of the loss, it was a pretty gutless performance, we’ll probably smash Notlob on Saturday

With all due respect mate, it's just such a narrow minded view without the long term considerations.
I've been to two "tinpot" finals and they were some of my BEST ever days following Blackpool FC. I'll never forget either of them. The long term success of this football club relies on the big days. So the disappointment for the younger generation of fans not getting a day out at Wembley is pretty big. Plus the cash and exposure boost. Plus the momentum of getting to Wembley. That would have boosted crowd attendances for the rest of the season.
Yes, we want to do well in the league, but you and BFCx3 playing down it's significance is narrow minded to the bigger picture.
With how absolutely inconsistent and in general poor we are at the moment, a day out at Wembley would have erased that.

Losing is one thing but losing the way we have in most games this season especially away is totally unacceptable and avoidable.

I'm not convinced we will smash Notlob on Saturday tbh. There's a lack of belief in the side, of mental toughness, and Bolton will come full of fight and determination. And we're just nowhere near ready for tackling the Championship again, are we?

Got to agree with all of this. Would of loved to of taken my 3 kids to Wembley. Still gutted we didnt give it a right good go against Peterborough. Wembley doesnt come around every season for football clubs and it would of been my youngest first time there.

Yep. I hate this modern thing of “concentrate on the league” and the cups aren’t important. I what you’re actually saying is, these competitions exist just to mug the fans off for more money whilst delivering inferior product. I think prize money should be completely docked from any team in any competition that is judged to have fielded a fundamentally weakened side in the competition. Won’t ever happen mind

No we really aren't but you have to hope don't you? I would never of guessed we would beat Posh on Saturday. We will probably beat Bolton and lose to Wycombe, that is our MO this season.

I hope I'm wrong but I suspect Tuesday will have knocked the stuffing out of the squad. Does it have the stomach to really go toe to toe on Saturday, and fight for the play offs in the subsequent run of away games? We'll find out, in due course.

We will, but if we perform like we did on Tuesday and get battered then Critchley, for the first time, is going to feel the full wrath of the crowd, that would be an interesting development. Surely they can't give in like they did on Tuesday? You have to expect a response?

Hopefully - but the squad may have been looking forward to getting to Wembley, it's a carreer target for players to p;lay in a final there, I'm sure. And I'm not convinced that the players are convinced that promotion is achievable? There is a lack of that urgency and belief that is obvious when it is there.

The Wembley comment is very true, players really do want to play there as supporters want to be there cheering them on. At the end of the day the tactics were awful bit the players may well feel the tactics are wrong, but they were woeful and have to take some of the blame. If I were Critchley I'd be saying I want a response, I would also be having a meeting with the players where they are free to say what they want about tactics who is playing etc without any recriminations and then if I were Critchley I'd bloody well listen and I'd be saying to them we have 15 games to get to Wembley, let's ** do it! Trouble is I doubt his bumper book of top jolly tactics and how to manage a football club will mention that and he'll just carry on as is ad infinitum.

Anyone who isn't just on a wind up, who legitimately wasn't arsed about seeing Blackpool play at Wembley is off their head. I actually can't understand that.
If the stature of the competition is too lowly in your mind, to the extent a Wembley trip isn't exciting, then I don't get how supporting Blackpool could ever be enoyable. Unless you support a club at the top end of the Prem, Wembley trips are rare no matter what - even for us and all our play-off success.
This would have been our first proper trip (boycott and COVID excluded) to Wembley in 12 years. It's unlikely we'll make the play-offs, even if we did with our inconsistency, would we even make the final? (one of the games in the semi's is AWAY
).
A god awful season last year, this one's panning out to be a damp squib - winning the EFL Trophy with a day out at Wembley would have been a great little thing to give the fanbase something to actually celebrate IMO.
