Seville

The best thing we did was to do Tapas Tapas.

We called it that as we would only have one tapas dish in each tapas place, using Trip Advisor to pick the places and that places best dish.

Worked really well 👍👍👍👍 and we went to loads more places 👍👍👍👍

I went in November and it was late 20s, bloody lovely city though. Head over the river to Triana and the birth place of Flamenco, the beer is even cheaper. The old food market is worth a visit also, great to enjoy a few nibbles and a beer or 2.

Going with Mrs sub at the end of June. Like many, first trip abroad since start of covid so really looking forward to it.
I’m sure you’ve done some research Herts as I have especially regarding tapas bars . If your looking for a recommendation, then try Islamorada tapas restaurant, pretty central but gets excellent reviews. I’m already booked in for our first night. If you have any tips or suggestions yourself please let me know.
Enjoy !! ☀️🍷

The food market is opposite the ceramics museum which is fascinating and is also next to the gates of the Spanish Inquisition which is an alley down to the river. There are remains of the inquisition castle is on/under the lower floor of the market.

Triana is a Real Betis hotbed, but on the main street there is a Sevilla Bar, like a supporters club which is there as much to wind locals us as for trade. The street behind that (west) has a Flamenco school where at kicking out time is a sight covering several generations all attired as about to perform (I'm assuming that's what they did all day). The Church opposite (I never found it open) is the most important in Seville. Decent tapas bar in the courtyard too.

Cordoba's even hotter !
We were on a trip to Southern Spain a few years ago, Seville, Cordoba and Granada were on the itinery. The courier told us about an old lady who stepped off the bus at Cordoba only to find her shoes stuck in the melted tar. The old lady was pulled out, the shoes had to stay! 🥵

We stayed right next to the cathedral, used to go to a lovely place for breakfast on the corner every morning, full of locals having bread with olive oil and crushed tomatoes..best sandwiches ever. Then on to Cadiz, kids surfing in the evening and a place called Tapateria, what a place a family of 4 eating for max 50 Euro each night, out of this world food. Enjoy!

Went a couple of months ago pissed it down most days, while back here we had the hottest week of the year so far.
Nice city though

Spain is a fabulous country. The weather brings risks though. We're in Gaucin near Ronda at the moment. Yesterday there was a forest fire about 20 miles away and three firemen have been injured fighting it. Last year firefighters died tackling a fire in the same area. Today we've seen huge clouds overhead and seen a steady shower of ash falling from the sky. Tonight the cloud is heading towards the coast as it slowly dissipates. It's only the beginning of June, fires like this are becoming a much more common feature as our climate breaks down around the world.

Enjoy Sub, it's a great place. Only advice I can give is
Bring a hat
Take in a Flamenco show
Have a glass of Pedro Jiminez sherry
Enjoy mate

I didnt expect the Spanish Inquisition!

So a positive thread becomes a political one. Mint.
That's not intended as a political post at all Scara. It's just a fact. Honestly, I'm glad i quite smoking in 2016, the ground around here is like a tinderbox. None of that has stopped us having a fantastic holiday in a majestically beautiful and hospitable country.

We were in Granada before here. You buy a beer, they give you a free tapas. Bingo Bango as they say.
The tapas in Grenada is crazy. We went to the one where you write a message on a napkin and pin it on the wall. First drink we got a bacon barmcake, second drink we got a burger!! The hotel we stayed at in Cordoba had an honesty bar on the roof top terrace, you could just see that working here!!
