Short on Strikers yet Brad to go out on loan again

Not sure what this lad has to do to get a bit of game time. He has been scoring consistently in the development squad and added to that we are light weight upfront plus with a drop down in class I felt this was his time to shine.

Hate to say it but perhaps he has not improved over the last two years. Unfortunately, there is no sentiment in football he may be best advised going to a National League North team and trying to kick start his career.

He's only 20 got another 2 years left on his contract(+1 deal) so giving him games at non league is the right thing to do as scoring goals for the development squad is day and night compared to this league.

Give the lad time players are different ages when the come good or find their level.
It's easy to get impatient with young players' development, but I would be hoping that National League or L2 loan might demonstrate that he is improving. Otherwise it may give the impression that National League North is the right level for him.

I've watched him develop ever since he arrived from Bolton and I'd disagree to some extent.
He's obviously developed from a boy to a man over that period and is now a lot stronger physically.
Throughout his development he's always had an eye for goal and that hasn't changed as he's moved up the age groups.
I do agree it's probably for the best that he goes out on loan but I hope the arrangement is one where he can still continue to play for BFC in certain competitions.

It's a difficult one, who is he going to replace either in the starting 11 or on the bench? If we bring another striker in he's going to find himself further down the pecking order.
A loan, but hopefully to a league club, if someone's prepared to take him with a recall clause built in if we suffer an injury crisis.

At this stage in his development, is he better than Lavery, Beesley, Joseph (who I appreciate we've hardly seen yet) or Dale?

There's quite a lot of bias towards Brad and that he should play but unfortunately for the moment at least, he just isn't good enough. I'd rather him go out on loan and develop than play at a level he isn't ready for and it destroy him. If he wasn't one of our youngsters then nobody would want him playing.

I thought Brad looked good enough in the Championship last season when Dobbie gave him a chance.
how many minutes did he actually play under Dobbie? Surely not enough to form any meaningful opinion as to how good he is and that he's ready to step up to this level. And does Critch has got enough of that type of player if and when Joseph is fit again. That said he does seem reluctant to give our youth players a chance.

Critch will have evaluated him this pre-season so it would seem clear he's not quite there yet to be pushing for a place in the first team.

No doubt we will add one or two forwards before the deadline.

Let's hope Brad can make an impact whilst out on loan.

Here's the 1 posters' view of the kids that I listen to 👍

All this speculation and yet no one seems to know where he is going.
Ah ok. I think he probably needs a loan. Game time is what he wants and he won't get much here even if we could probably do with him on the bench in the short term.

10 mins here and there isn't going to shape him.

Hope it's at least a conference loan.

Last time he did that we got spanked at Peterborough last game of the season and people still haven't forgiven that performance.

I've always thought there's a reason our youth are with us and not at a PL academy levels.
Will they come good hopefully but with 22 outfield players in a squad are any of the kids better than we've got already?

Let them tear it up at lower levels like the kid we've just loaned from Brighton to see if their good enough for our match squad.

I havent played with Brad Holmes or seen much of him on the pitch.

Im happy to go along with the Critch's evaluation of Brad

After all he has many years experience in working with young players including 6-7 years as the under 23 coach as one of the worlds most famous and elite football clubs.

What he has to do is be good enough........

I know people are soft on him, Blackpool lad etc etc but the fact is multiple managers have deemed him to be not quite good enough, Dobbie gave him a few mins here and there but realistically he's only scored goals in kids (development) football.

Surely he still has a couple of years or more to “properly fill out” which normally takes adult males until 22/23 before you can say if he will be good enough?

That might start to give him the upper body strength he will need for the type of striker I assume he is - one that does most of his work with his back to goal?
