Shorts again.

Looking at all the people wearing shorts, and it’s the vast majority, made me think back to when I was young (well actually I still think I am) I can’t remember anyone wearing shorts, except for football, rugby etc. When did they start, anyone know? Same for trainers, T shirts and polo shirts. As I remember it we had shirts, pants and jumpers.

Dare I say it, another foreign import same as the "barbies".

Makes me think of a great family photograph I have of my Grandad, taken in the ‘60’s in Tenerife, when package holidays were still in their infancy.

He’s sitting on the beach, in a deckchair, wearing a 3-piece suit, shirt & tie, knee-high woollen socks, brogues - but has also swapped his standard tweed flat-cap for a white linen one in some small acknowledgement of the heat!! 🤣

We went to Tenerife from Blackpool Airport in 1967. I've been going through our old Super 8 films and notice if we're not on the beach or by the pool, such as on a day trip, I'm wearing a shirt and tie, and a jacket and I'm 8. It was the norm then.

Shorts are worn from April to November, much healthier than a three piece suit.

We'll be back to them in 50 years time when the Gulf Stream has moved and its frozen in August 👍

Does anyone even wear ties at work any more, I rarely see them these days?

Tailored shorts and a pair of driving shoes or boat shoes . Fat bastards need not apply and certainly shouldn’t wear flip flops with their big ugly feet

Did you spot the crowd when the 1966 World Cup final got replayed recently. The majority of men wearing suits, shirts and ties.

The 1960’s was the coldest decade in the 20th century in Britain. Cold winters, cold springs and cool summers. The majority of males only wore shorts when playing sport or if they were in the Scouts. Even now I never wear shorts as I know my pert bum and shapely legs would see me being mobbed by over excited old ladies.😀

Regrettably, I have to wear a tie at work which is frankly ridiculous in this weather.

“Bigger men” seem to wear them all year round. I’ve got a mate who got into fitness then let himself balloon to 24 stone - he’s never out of them and even wears flip flops in the winter.
Seems popular if you’re a salad dodger

18 you mean

Shorts on when the clocks go forward and long pants when the clocks go back. Wear shorts around the house all year round.
