Shots on target

Is anyone else concerned by how little we've worked the opposition keeper so far this season?

I think Kemp starting will help us, but we need to just have a dig!

Firstly to answer the o/p - YES very concerned!
When Kemp came on today he had a shot without taking one or two touches first
OK the keeper saved it because it was a bit central unfortunately, but first time shots don't generally give the keeper or defence time to block or get into position, we clearly don't do it enough - good call about Kemp starting

If we can get CJ, Kaikai, Virtue, Kemp, Anderson and Woodburn all in the team we will create chances.

Yeah for sure. Every game it's been the same. Seems like confidence had dipped. I don't think today's performance, despite us taking the points, will have helped. Kemp brought energy and positivity which we have lacked...on the face of it the team selected looked positive but a couple of them look out of sorts...time to refresh with the likes of Kemp maybe? Not wholesale changes, we don't have too many options. Kaikai's goal will have done him some good🍊👍

I think that has been the worst aspect of the season so far, the lack of chances and even the failure to test the opposition goalkeeper. It has made losing a game even more difficult. I must admit, when we scored today, I didn't celebrate, as such, but simply said thank goodness for that.

I have to admit that this season has, so far, been well below my expectations, particularly after some of the pre season run outs. I expected entertainment rather than dead end arty farty football with no end product.

I just hope today is the beginning of the turning point.

I'd say that's fair and I agree.

I was chuffed Sullay scored but it's been a few games now where it's been a hard watch. It doesn't help not really having any connection with them either. Today's game felt like a crap practice match to me.

I'd guess if we were actually vat the ground we might appreciate the physical effort a bit more and perhaps feel a bit more behind them but it's been less entertainment and more duty watching them.

Roll on Tuesday though. We'll murder them!

I feel the same.

Going off the pre-season performances and Critchley's 'Klopp way', I expected us to launch wave after wave of attacks against the opposition, but it's been pretty much the opposite.

GTF said during the commentary of our cup game at Accy that he expected his side to have 15 shots at goal per half, and that this was the thinking on the coaching courses and seminars he's been on, so to be having as few on target as we have had per game so far is disappointing.

Hopefully as the side becomes more settled, we will feel able to create and take more risks.

Its suprising Kaikai and Ward dont get more shots off at goal. Both are capable of shooting from long range. Was it Ward that hit one at Southport? Ive also got a feeling Williams can get a few from the loose balls that he can run onto similar to the low one he put wide against Crewe.

BBC stats say 2 but either way 2 is about the seasonal average which is well below what we need for the attacking football that SS set out as our aim.
Absolutely but I do wonder sometimes who compiles them and from what angle. They're frequently wrong as I saw it.
