Since Sadler took charge pre-seasons have been hectic. We’ve either been hastily assembling a squad, building a whole new infrastructure or remedying problems of old. Throw in issues and uncertainty caused by Covid, the uncertainty of what division we’ll be in and the massively shortened pre-season caused by play-offs and the club under Sadler and Mansford really haven’t had the benefit of a full pre-season.
This year the coaches are in place. The majority of the squad is in place. We know our budget and where we’ll be next season. We know who’s good enough and who isn’t. We know what to expect.
For weeks (if not months) our recruitment team has had chance to work with this knowledge. Our management team has had chance to plan, source and arrange contractors etc.
There’s no uncertainty and no rush and as a result this summer could well be the most exciting, albeit low key summer we’ve had in a very long time.
There’s a lot of negativity from some people but given how well the club has done on the back of chaos and uncertainty and against the odds, we now get to see how our professional club works with time on its side and abundant resources and general calm.
Plenty to be positive about imo.
