Show me the way to go home...

Just popped on AVFTT again whilst nearing the end of a break away, Kit-Kats were always my favourite but hey-ho can't win 'em all!

Having recently rediscovered the bug after 10 years away from the board, I thought I'd have a look--in Kos I didn't really fancy a lock-in.

Had a few sherbets and really at my age I should just go to kip, but that's as damn it.

Saw the thread with the homecoming songs, and wow!

I've posted a couple of threads misel about chants in the last few weeks, forgot I'd posted the 1st one when I did the 2nd one not too long after (daft old fart).

But I love all the old chants and songs that we used to sing on The Kop, plus the new 'uns blasted out by the North Stand singers, plus the rest of the home stands - the atmosphere is brilliant these days.

When my eldest grandson 'translates' some of the new 'uns for me and his Auntie, albeit only in the 1st half in 'L' block Kos he joins his mates standing loud 'n' proud in the North for the 2nd half (good on him).

I think "well don't knock 'em" and I don't because I've been there, like many of us owd lads who frequent the 'blanket and flask' seats in the West.

Coming back home tomorrow and I got to thinking of my dear old Mum and Dad who introduced me to life at Bloomfield Road back in the mid/late 50s.

On 'D-Day' 6th June 1944 mi Dad was there on the Normandy Beaches on Gold beach with the Glorious Glosters.

He fought them on the beaches with his mates, I'm rambling with tears rolling hell-fire how can so many moan today, me included, about insignificant shite?

The Thread Title was one of the many songs mi Dad used to sing, he was a great raconteur and comic and a great blokes' lad - - so many loving memories for me and my 'kids' like many of us on here with their's.

The song went something like this:

Show me the way to go home
I'm tired and I want to go to bed
I had a little drink about an hour ago
And it went right to my head
No matter where I roam
Over land or sea or foam
You will always hear me singing the song
Bloomfield Road's my home

Be loud, be proud, be young, be foolish, be happy!👌
