Shut that Dor Peretz!

"With over 30 caps for his country, Peretz has an eye for goal from central midfield with five for his nation and 17 for Maccabi over 150 appearances".
I'm not too excited about this link, and I wouldn't say he has 'an eye for goal' either; however, he does score more than our current midfielders.

Would need a work permit nowadays, and clubs are finding it difficult to get "foreign " players in because of it .

Any chance we can be linked with a player without another club with higher wages sniffing around.

If he's a current international he would probably get one , however this
is very speculative and I would be surprised if this happened.

We left the EU so no.
Portuguese face exactly the same restrictions as Israelis?
I genuinely am unsure, I thought EU citizens still found it easier to work in the UK as opposed to the rest of the world?

Given his international pedigree for Israel, he should be in line for a permit anyway

Er, no. We voted to lose access to that large labour market.

Only the Republic of Ireland, from the EU lands, have a special agreement with the UK.

I was asking a genuine question as I didn't know,

you've somehow managed to come across as a bellend with both responses. I genuinely couldnt give a toss about most political things but just let it go man remain lost. You can't seem to answer a simple question without getting buthurt about a political vote 6 years ago. Embarrassing

Just astounded that you suggested the UK could cancel its membership of the EU and yet still reap the benefits of being in it.

This player will now be faced the choice of freedom of movement across the whole of the EU (hundreds of teams) or having to go through the process of applying for a work permit to come to the UK (on which he will have to specify a single prospective employer). If I was him, I'd probably choose to keep it simple and keep my freedom of movement.

Honestly you politics board dwellers are astounding at how ** miserable you can make anything.

I still don't think you've even answered my original question, is it easier for an EU citizen to get a work permit than an Israeli or is it exactly the same?

I think it’s the same? The other issue though is that if he has dual Portuguese nationality he will have easier access to all the leagues within the EU as he won’t need a permit there, so if he is in demand we might miss out on him.
Also if he does want to come here it might well take ages to actually get a permit at the moment?

It’s done on a points system. I would imagine as a full international who played in Serie A last season he would easily qualify.

Should be relatively easy to get a work permit as it's based on international appearances.

Not sure if it's smart or worrying that we're relying on players who Mansford knows.
