Signings for next season

I think we can all agree that an experienced/quality striker (akin to JR) is a must as well as a wizard/playmaker in midfield.

Connor Wickam at Charlton stands out for me. Ex England U21 and early 30s experience like JR. Contract up this month.

Has anyone got their eye on players they’d like to see in tangerine next season?

George Byers. Morgan Whittaker. Hayden coulson. Dembele( haha if only) john Mcatee Lewis Collins

Carey and Husband would be a great start.

Coulson and Byers would be brilliant signings.

Dembele is only a remote possibility if we get promoted.

I think Rhodes would be fine for another season if we are still in L1. I'd also like Jamie Reid at Stevenage, at 29 he's at his peak and would be great in the central role. Another player we should take a look at is Chris Conn-Clarke at Altrincham. Similar in stature to Lavery, only 22 and suits the 10 role. Langstaff as has been mentioned would be a great signing also, that would take a bit of money and ambition to beat other suitors to his signature though.

Jodi Jones is gettable, think Langstaff will cost 7 figures and thus probably out of our range in L1.

JCH would be a nice signing however my concern is he’s spent most of his career in the south.

Brendan Wiredu at Fleetwood would be someone I’d like, Coulson and Rhodes are realistic, Ethan Chislett at Vale is an outside shout I’d look at also.

JCH we should aim for as well as Longstaff but can’t see us going for them sadly.

JCH has spent time up north so if the money was right would possibly join us.

Coulson and Rhodes are gettable, not sure Byers is.
Chris Conn-Clark from from Altrincham attacking mid in non-league who's got over 30 goals/assist
Lorant Tolaj also worth a shot 19 goals for Aldershot
Jodi Jones surely gettable with again 30 goals/assist in League 2
I'd also look at Jonson Clark-Harris now he's on a free

Depends what league we're in, budgets, aspirations, out of contract players etc etc etc

I think we definately need a left-sided cenre half, another decent centre midfielder or two and the holy grail of a 20 goal a season striker. No idea about a left centre half but.....here's a couple of names perhaps.....

Joe Taylor - lad at Lincoln on loan from Luton- if they go down he may get more of a chance there but has done really well at Lincoln
Ethan Chislett - Port Vale midfielder deffo worth a shout.....did well in a relegated team

I always think threads like this a waste of time and completely pointless

It all depends on the manager and the way they want to play

Get decent players onba two year contract ,,,instead of relying on loanees who will be gone back to parent club at end of loan ,,,,not realy bothered if club is relegated, promoted or still in same league when they go back to parent club ,,,

Thought about this recently;

Jonson Clark-Harris (striker) free transfer and proven. Wages could be an issue.

Malik Wilks (winger or striker). Previously top scorer in Lg1 with Hull, never really settled at Sheff Weds.

Herbie Kane (attacking mid). Proven playmaker in Lg1, Barnsley contract coming to an end at the end of this season.

Byers and Rhodes would be a huge bonus.

As did Garrity . About 12 goals or so from midfield

How does Connor Wickham stand out? Cos his injury record is so bad?

Depends what league we’re in 😉
Strangely I don't think it depends which league we're in. The worst thing, for me, about this season was that our permanent signings all felt like League One (mid-table League One at that!) and it's been our loans that have saved us. Let's be more ambitious and go for players who, even if we're in League One next season, will serve us well for the foreseeable.

Just seen this on Twitter. I'd love to sign Rhodes, but stuff like this makes me want to sign him even more. Seems like a top bloke.

No one in football has a bad word to say about Jordan. Gary Bowyer said he's a top professional and all round nice guy - "the sort of guy you'd like to marry your daughter". That speaks volumes for him both as a footballer and human being.
If we stay in L1 he'd be a great signing. However, if by good fortune we're promoted, then not so, as Jordan's days as a Championship striker have now passed. Hence why his home club weren't playing him, despite currently being 23rd in the table & having scored only 47 goals.
Jordan himself said in his latest interview that he hopes to have 2 or 3 seasons left before retiring. He could comfortably achieve that with us in L1, before becoming our striker coach (along with Brett).

Can you put him in touch with my daughter please
