Simon Sadler appreciation thread

Sadler has been brilliant and continues to be. Just look at some of the utter sh*te other clubs have to put up with (we know ourselves). Does he get everything right - no, does any owner get everything right - absolutely not. Does he genuinely care about the club - YES - that is the most important thing. Has he changed the fortunes of the club since the fans forced Oyston out - YES.

We were a mid-table league one club. We are now a lower-mid table championship club. Fans have short memories as to how dire some of the football was is in league one. Lets face it, mid-table championship is good for us.

Spend more money - spend more money - He has already put alot of money into the club and the transformation has been exceptional. Short memories. The club has to be run in a sustainable manor. We have had Covid, inflation and now a brewing financial crisis. Tight for everyone, including football owners.

Get some outside investment - get an owner with bigger pockets - Who? What? how? Nonsense

More personality - What do you want - a comment after every game? He is not the manager.

Give me Sadler over some billionaire Saudi's any day of the week.

Good thread. Simon Sadler has been great for us. Sadly some people are never satisfied. Until we are top of the Prem they will continue to moan. Expectations should be realistic.

We are incredibly lucky to have someone like Sadler involved. The investments SS is making into the non-playing, less glamourous areas of the club is one which will serve us for literally decades to come. It's called playing the long game, which seems completely lost on the snowflakes who want to change owner the moment we lose a couple on the trot.

Too many on this board think the real world is like playing Football Manager and you just click on some players and they sign -- the reality of BFC is that it's a complex business in an incredibly competitive space. SS is doing a great job of navigating, couldn't ask for better. Just take a look at the other end of the M55 and life under a disinterested owner and chronic underinvestment. They can't even repair the roof!

Of course we appreciate SS. Goes without saying, especially after what we’ve been through these last few decades.

I don’t see anyone calling for a change of owner (other than the usual WUMs, trolls and Nobbers in disguise. Don’t be fooled or taken in by their nonsense.)

The main issues have arisen from the hit & miss performance of the Board, misjudged strategies such as ST pricing and the unpopular choice of manager from the outset. All things that could have been avoided, imo.
But at least now I’m confident we are learning from our mistakes and unlike the Stains, these things are not deliberate and everyone can make mistakes.

Not good enough this year on the football squad. Everything else you have to be thankful of. A little less of the snippy reactionary press releases and a bit more rising above it would be my recommendation along with a bit more investment in key experienced players targets.

I'm personally more than happy with him.

A lot of comments on here seem to revolve not so much around Simon himself, as the board's negotiation in transfer dealings, resulting in lack of first choice signings.

OK, we do appear to have missed out on several major targets, so to those people who think we're not performing well enough in the market - if we missed any of them because they asked for more than our budget, simple question. How much do you think we should break the budget by?

Mistakes have possibly been made over recruitment but show me a club who always get things right

As others have said we are ' punching above our weight ' having got where we are as quickly as we have and are trying to compete on a very unlevel financial playing field - arguably one of the most uneven in world football

You only need to see the size of some the teams stuck in L1 to see that

Off the field things have improved immeasurably and look to continue to do so with the community facilities behind the north, the east stand development and the training ground

I shake my head sometimes at the expectations and the nonsense posted

Who'd be an owner of a football club 🤣

The priority is a new East and training ground. If he delivers that then he will be a huge success even if we drop to L1 for a few seasons. People might not agree or like hearing that which is understandable and you always hope that we can punch above our weight. I think we've entered an Arsenal situation with the Emirates being built a few years ago, obviously on a smaller scale.

Whatever happens, he's a genuine lifelong supporter who genuinely wants the best for the club and the town, unlike the previous 'fan since I was 2' and only in it for what they could take out.
He's brought stability, integrity and an honesty to the club, which was missing from the top for as long as I've supported the club.
Whatever his finances, I'm confident that he runs the club to be ambitious and within its means, which is all any supporter can ask for.
Progress isn't just measured with results on the pitch, it's the club as a whole. I'm happy to have him as the owner, all day long.

I’m pleased we’ve got him too - much better than the last ‘local’ lad we had who’d supported us since embryo. But he does have to balance spending on the training ground with spending on higher quality players. There’s a danger we’ll have the best training set up in League 1 or 2.

He is a life-long fan spending millions of his own wealth securing a future for our club and also investing in the wider community and town. What's not to like? I'm 100% behind him and I don't think we could wish for a better owner 👍

Forever grateful. A proper chairman

We all love Simon Sadler and can be forever grateful as others have said, the club is unrecognisable from when he took over and we can be confident that he will always do what is right for Blackpool FC!! 🧡👍🏻

I'm happy with him too. My thread wasn't me saying I wasn't, I was just asking some questions, mainly around recruitment of players. Nothing wrong with asking questions, he is not beyond criticism and it makes sense to let him know we are fully behind him but if he needs a quick WTF was that then I’m sure he’s big enough to take it.

Not even sure about the recruitment complaints or the board. Simon will have said "I am paying all this money for a training ground and redevelopment of the east stand. I do not have unlimited wealth. This is the budget I can afford on players". Recruitment then has to work within that budget. They tried to get permanent signings, but probably couldn't without going beyond the stated budget. They then either buy sub-standard players on a permanent basis, which would guarantee us going down, or they tap into the loans market, which they have done very well. I think we have good people at the helm who deserve our full support. I even think Michael Appleton will come good given time.

Much appreciated of course. We have a good owner, we are very lucky indeed. We, like he I expect, would like to be doing a bit better.

I agree with all of the opening post, apart from one comment.

Not all fans have short memories, most of us appreciate what he has done so far and what he is doing.

I have a long memory and remember the years of the Oystons all too well and also the years of Cartmel before them.

Thank you Simon from a very appreciative fan.

No I don’t I enjoy a life where I strive for excellence, day in day out. I’d like to see the football club I support and fans also do this instead of being happy with mediocrity and hounding people who want excellence!
Gosh, always having such high expectations in life, surely must be waring at times for you and those around you…🙄

The Jury is out for me

Lack of investment in the squad and ridiculously high match day prices

Anyway none of that is important today, just get into these simple fcukers from the down the road

Every player and every fan needs to give 100% today

Utmp .....

Really grateful we have Mr Sadler at the helm. The club is in a different stratosphere to where it was under the vermin.

We just need to get recruitment right and get the original plan of employing good young players with a view to selling them on at a large profit. This seems to have hit the skids since Critchley left.

Relegation is a real possibility this season. It doesn't actually bother me too much as long as we get back on track as per above.
