Sir Gavin Williamson

“Asked why the knighthood was being announced now and not part of an honours list, Downing Street said it was a political appointment by the Conservative Party. Before his sacking, he reportedly told allies 'knows where the bodies are'.” - Daily Mail
Sounds to me like he certainly knows where the bodies are and someone has ensured he gets his knighthood to save their skin. As for the timing it would appear the war in Ukraine is being used to keep It off the front pages and to try and stem the inevitable tide of criticism.

Incredible, I heard him speak in cleveleys and he was embarrassing, squeaky voice, no charisma and as was proved, little intelligence. Very poor decision which should be objected to strongly.

Could this be a pay off by Boris for keeping his mouth shut about Boris’s party activities? Can’t see any other reason why this incompetent should be knighted.

Oh dear. This one really stinks. Not sure a knighthood alone will be enough to keep this quiet, but a lot of that still looks like adding 2 and 2 to make 5 at this stage?

The Russian infiltration of the Conservative party, if true, has the potential to make all the other numerous scandals look insignificant.
This could be a very big story.

Just how shallow do you have to be to accept a knighthood in exchange for burying or not revealing a very large amount of potential naughtiness. That such a usless twunt as GW is given a knighthood, is testament to the fact that the honours system is horseshit, should be abolished full stop.

as a slight aside I used to work for somone who was an OBE, his two closest professional aquantancies were both Knighted, and it was a cause of extreme annoyance to him. He spent thousands on PR companies and lobbyists to get him a knighthood. he spending on the various PRs and Lobbyists was only discovered when he sold the company to a Canadian media group, who started looking at the individual project accounts and discovered that those companies were sometimes being sneaked into client billables.

There could be quite a big inflitration into the labour party as well. I think its well understood about Corbyn has sovietic connections from his past, but Blair as well was fairly tight with several Russian and Ukrainian oligarchs.

this is not whataboutism - this is to do with how the russian connections and influence goes to both sides, actually numerous sides some of which will be entirely fictitious in order to create confusion and a lack of trust

In most respects giving GW a knighthood now for whatever reason, in the hope that it doesn't alert the media, does just that and everyone gets focused on that for a while and not what is going on elsewhere.

Mandelson and Deripaska as well.

Apart from anything else, and without dwelling on how this started ( Eg did Blair encourage it at the start ) Johnson, in doing this , has no respect for us as the British people, or our country or our democracy.

Johnson is up to his neck in this and it would seem that his party knew about it, yet they allowed him (and elected him) to become PM;

Johnson has given Lebdedev (whose father was a KGB officer) a knighthood

Most media are unwilling to report these these things so left to those ready to dig into it. In 2020 the govt Intelligence and Security Comittee , produced its Russia Report, but wasn't able to dig too deep it seems and was more or less blocked from an examination of potential Russian interference in the 2016 referendum.

As he is now a knight, maybe he should put on his chainmail, don his horse and ride full tilt at the Russians with his lance at the ready.

Downing Street has privately acknowledged that Gavin Williamson’s knighthood is difficult to justify and appears “corrupt”.

After outrage from teachers and opposition parties at the honour for the former education secretary, sources close to Boris Johnson made little attempt to defend the award and said there was no way the prime minister would bring Williamson back into government. The Times.

Says it all really. Are they trying to commit political suicide? Or just laughing at us?

I don’t think Boris has his eye on the long term. I think if he can serve a respectable length of time, maybe another year or so, and leave on his own terms and not under a cloud he will go away and make his millions.
