Thompson nearly costing us at the back. If he wants to be a starter he has to start to iron out all the mistakes.
 
That spell of possession was over 3 minutes i think. Insane. Approx 40th to 43rd minute. Nearly ended with a goal.
 
Watched the 90.

Casey and Connolly looked good alongside Hubby in the back 3. And no shaky balls out of defence. We are well stacked for CBs, Tharme looks fine too I think.

Lyons tidy, passes well. Thommo bit better last night. Got up and down. Will improve surely.

Dougall and Virtue tidy but not spectacular. Calmly efficient.

Some good driving runs from Carey.

Bees will fain confidence from his goals. Dale did ok.

Joseph showed promising signs. Like the look of him. Direct and lively.

Three Things!

The three minute passathon just before half time illustrates the value of having technically proficient players throughout who can control the ball and find a man. And it was only game 2, with 7 changes from the league game. Dougall and Virtue did a very good job of deputising for Norburn and Morgan, with Carey driving forward effectively.

We have looked great in the first half of both games. Second halves have been less impressive but we haven't conceded and we look well set up to keep sides out, with an interchangeable back 3. Wing back positions up for grabs, the least sorted part of the team for me.

We now have Lavery on fire plus a rapidly improving Beesley and the promise of Joseph. Good signs.
