Slept on it

Having slept on it and gone over the game in my mind I have become less emotional, a trait I have during and post a game, I think I have been a bit unfair.

There’s no doubt it wasn’t great but it was actually quite an open game and they (Orient) weren’t coming here to be rolled over, they were pointless and that run is always going to end and with Richie coming back to his old stomping ground he had a point to prove.

So it wasn’t a boring game, more frustrating I would say.

Critch takes time to get his teams to fully understand his system and they aren’t there yet. We haven’t got the players, in my opinion, to play it successfully so it s absolutely imperative that we get 3 or 4 new players in before the deadline passes. We also need to thin the squad out.

The fact we haven’t conceded a goal in 5 games cannot be underestimated and is a really good base to progress from. I don’t understand why we have resorted to playing long diagonals or hoofs up the middle, especially with the players we have up front and we are really lacking in players who can feed the strikers.

We need to see where we are after 15 games. If Critch gets the players he needs, we keep defending like we have been, then the results should come. I want to see us get some deals over the line and a more flexible approach. Yes it has been difficult to watch at times, but we need to be patient and see continual improvements.

I knew you’d see sense eventually

Having slept on it and gone over the game in my mind I have become less emotional, a trait I have during and post a game, I think I have been a bit unfair. - 100%! See more below

We could cite a thousand examples of bigger teams losing to teams languishing at the bottom throughout any given season.

So it wasn’t a boring game, more frustrating I would say. - agree

Once we’ve had it and if results are poor - then there are no more excuses

I don’t understand why we have resorted to playing long diagonals or goos up the middle, especially with the players we have up front and we are really lacking in players who can feed the strikers. - from one side it sounds a bit boring but from another (especially after the consistent disappointment of showing no fight last season), we have already made a difficult achievement here. It is very hard to keep so many consecutive clean sheets.

Give it a fair amount of games. Even Appleton deserved the first, say, ten games to see what he could do under a different set of circumstances. I’ve said that Critchley is trying to achieve a healthy balance between defence and attack. He/our players just haven’t got the attacking bit yet, but that’s not to say that they won’t. Remember the Jerry Yates example- he came to us, huffed and puffed, but didn’t score. Look at him now- he deserves his championship status.

At the moment we are unbeaten so I don't understand the negativity, the blame game just go's on and on it's either the managers the owner Mansford Maxwell CJ Marv etc etc , yes we have been poor from the 2nd half of the Burton game til now but let's just see where we are at midway point of the season as we are hard to beat at home and up to now we ain't conceded.

I think we need 2 or 3 really good attacking signings at least. From last season we have lost Bowler, Rogers, Yates, Patino, Fiorini, Poveda even Madine although I'm not a huge fan. What was left tbf was mainly the dregs and the fillers of a relegated team. We have replaced them with basically Norburn who is excellent and then a few freebie squad players. It's no wonder we look as poor as we do.
Big couple of weeks for changing our squad I think, 4 or 5 out, 2 or 3 in needed.

Yep, very disappointed with the last 2 home performances, but not the end of the world.
Only 3 points off the top despite not playing well at all
I posted yesterday that we need a player like Cosgrove particularly urgently, but it's pretty clear that we're missing that midfield creativity as well. We should just get the offer for Moxon right and get on with it, his value is likely to increase with every assist or goal.

About that Grimshaw save, it was excellent. He got down quickly to his right, got a strong hand to the ball, plus he knocked the ball away from the striker. I thought the powerful header was going in the far corner. Brilliant save.

Hope we keep him in January.

Fair points Hertford - what are goos btw or was that a typo ?

I think there are obvious parts of our game that could be improved but still not sure exactly what ‘system’ Critch is deploying so will hold my counsel for a while …

Splitter!!!

Yesterday was my first game back this season and we started brightly, but that was it, from then on our tactic was the long diagonal ball which mostly went beyond the player it was intended for. It didn’t work, but we kept on doing it throughout the entire game. Orient are second bottom, having scored 2 and conceded 8 , but they rarely looked in trouble against us and they had moments that worried us. I’ve slept on it and my opinion hasn’t changed, Critchley should never have been reappointed.

He should of never come back didn’t like his negativity last time and I despise him this time, Dobbies style had me on the edge of my seat I was praying sadler would make the right decision but he fucked up yet again there’s only Holloway left now I can see that happening next and Dobbie will probably be lured away by then I have lost all faith.

I missed Tuesday on a covid test, it didn't sound great. So from what I've seen/heard so far....

We need movement. Burton was chalk and cheese, once they sussed our route via Norburn we just ran out of ideas. The first half was very good, fairly obvious both Vale and Orient have learned from it.

So movement is needed, because yesterday we went static again, after a good tempo first half hour. Orient had the best chance but if we were up 2/3-1 at half time that would have been fair and everyone would generally be happy.

The long ball from the back is either for Beesley/Lavery to win (hopefully the former) or we're trying a 10-2 pass from central over the head of the FB for Lyons/Hamilton. That's really low percentage and why the midfield movement has to improve so we can get Weir, Morgan on the move forward and bring the width in.

Beesley did win quite a lot in the air yesterday. A few reverse knock downs went well and we picked up, but his forward flicks aren't supported. Someone has to be close and running off him.

I personally wish we weren't playing 352, but that's been it so far. Whether that's it for the season or because we could change with a couple of additions who knows. I personally think we could do 433 or more likely 4213 now with yesterday's starting mid. I'd give Rob Apter a wide slot, advance the FBs. If CJs playing then at least let him attack wide from high up.

We never got Evo, and we could easily have got him, because Sadler avoids flare in managers. But we have to see what happens, if it goes wrong and it doesn't improve and we start losing then he will go the way of every other manager at any other club, he will be moved on, we still won't get Dobbie though. The best thing is that it improves, the players we need are added and we start scoring some goals. DOn't get me wrong, I didn't want him back, I knew Sadler would take him back and we have absolutely no control over what decisions he males.

So let's see who we bring in between now and the end of the window, history doesn't fill me with confidence, but we have 11 days.

Come on Rox!! everyone knows goos is another word for hoof!! 😂😂

To be honest I thought you nailed it with your comment on the bench, there were no options to bring on a couple of fresh forwards
for the last 25mins, we just don't have any. The fact Virtue was brought on to win the game says it all.

Launching long diagonals takes out most of the requirement for quality in midfield and upfront. So new players aren’t the answer on their own.

Yep, we don’t need creative midfielders, we need four strikers stood on defenders shoulders.

We have played 3 games from 4 at home against lowly sides who are expected in bottom half. Hope we play better against better teams, we usually do.
Op. In 15 games we will be in bottom half if the negative tactics continue.
Hope not!

No it was boring.

However I agree with everything else you ve said 💯 per cent

Nixon says Charlton are favourites for Cosgrove. He is supposed to be on between £16k and £20k per week, which is out of our budget anyway.

Sadler needs to spend some of the money he has had in, Trybull will be sold and he won't go cheap, just go and get the lad from Peterborough, Moxon and a couple of wingers, stop ** about with namely pamby signings.

He has rebuild the house he's taken over because it was left derelict last season.

Poor you.

Once the players arrive and the system clicks in place I think we will be fine. Now isn’t the time to be booing the players tbh I find it pathetic from our so called fans really is no need for it. UTMP
If the players arrive. Looks like Cosgrove is on his way to Charlton, when we supposedly were favourites to secure him.
